Fly away home…

By fred | February 9, 2007

Once again one of the convicts got caught, and therefore lost his life. Haywire (Silas Weir Mitchell) was always a little bit crazy, but also a pretty cool character. Actually, at one time I even thought, or hoped?, he could be one that would find his way, just disappear from the news and got forgotten.

And he did find his way to some kind of peace & freedom, somehow. I was sad to see him go, and so was Mahone it seemed, but I also kind of enjoyed the way he went.

Goodbye Haywire…First off, because that scene was really well done, the whole thing and the music in the background, everything was just great, it really was another great moment of television.
Secondly, because he didn’t get shot. That’s probably the more “classical way that Mahone had in mind for him when he was heading there.

But because Haywire is who he is he ended up up there, lost & scared like a little kitten, then curious people gathered around to watch, so adjustments had to be made. And as Mahone was talking him into suicide, we could actually feel a real connection between the two.
When Mahone (William Fichtner) told him he knew how he felt, being trapped in a situation he had no control over, wishing he could just escape it, go away, you could tell it was no lie.

Indeed for a while now Mahone can’t act as freely as he wants, or used to. People have been getting suspicious over him and is method, and that’s why Mahone found a way to get himself some space of action in the person of Bellick (Wade Williams).

That’s right, it was a nice trick to get Bellick back into the show, so out of prison (given that we left that place a while ago). And it also gave us a pretty cool scene where we get to see him, excited as a kid, in his brand new car, trying out different ways to introduce himself now that he is “with the Bureau.

T-Bag (Robert Knepper) is still living with his old family, wife and kids. And seeing him waking up in the morning, spooning his wife who probably couldn’t close an eye the whole night, was pretty cool. And creepy.

Still under the radar for now, he acts as the perfect guy and tries to have everyone playing along. But he quickly realize he won’t work here, and instruct everyone to go pack: they’re leaving!

He won’t be easy to track back after they moved away, especially since it now seems that no one recognize them anymore. Not so long ago as soon as someone would take a look at them in the street it wasn’t long before they were on the phone with the police, but that changed.
