Family Guy: McStroke

By fred | January 14, 2008

It was great, and a little R.E.M. can never be a bad thing. While Peter had his accident and people mocked him, Stewie became the most popular kid on the high-school, which was for another great time. On his part, Stewie hold on to our expectations and his story was pretty good all the way to the end. Yes, him “having sex” for the first time was something, and his revenge of having the girl humiliated, and arrested, for making out with a naked baby, was pretty cool. So was his exit.

Family GuySadly, though, the same cannot be said when it comes to Peter. Once he got fixed in about five minutes thanks to a Stem cell lab, things got less and less funny as it went by. The trial bit was pretty unfunny, but the worst part had to be the whole revenge. Except for the Robin Williams joke, which I really liked, and maybe the guy having to leave Peter by the door to the restricted area, for an half hour bathroom break, it wasn’t funny at all.

I’m not sure if they tried to have a message in all this, “the courage lies with the man who has the guts to say no to a fastfood restaurant, and eat a salad instead. To say, I will eat this salad with pride, I don’t care if I look like a gay person. So to all of you salad eating homosexuals, I say thank you.” but that wasn’t really worth it. The gag of everyone running through the six doors is an old one which didn’t had anything to make it good this time, and the song that followed was pretty awful.

The ending though was great. Sure, it may not have ended on a last joke that was have you laughing out loud, and maybe you wished it would have, especially if this is going to be the season finale, but it was still pretty funny, in that very unique and special Family Guy kinda way, and I love it for that.

Overall, and despite a last story with Peter quite below the rest of the episode, it was still a great one. It may have been focused mainly on Peter on the one side, and Stewie on the other, but it was great, I didn’t miss anyone, I didn’t feel like nothing was missing, I was laughing out loud quite a lot of times, I loved it!

But, I have to send a little hate towards the people at Fox for pulling this retarded move : what were they trying to do, imitate NBC at their worst ? Yes, I liked the first episode of Terminator, and yes I intended to watch the second one, but if there’s one thing I couldn’t hate more, and that can only push me away from the show, it’s a giant ad, that eats almost half the screen, promoting it while I’m watching something else !

God I hate that. You think it’s cool, you want to do that, then please show it during the commercial breaks, not during the freaking show I’m trying to watch already!

Really, maybe I would have took a peek at the return of Prison Break, but if you want to play it like that, I won’t. I don’t care, I don’t need to watch it, especially not after it’s gotten that bad!
