Entourage: Return To Queens Blvd [season finale]

(S05E12) This is it, the end of the season. Last week things weren’t looking really good for Vince, as things have been most of the time this season in fact. We started after Medellin, biggest failure in a while, and after that no one was willing to work with Vincent Chase again. This was the season Vince had to get back on track, climb back to the top all over again.
And this episode was just like the season overall, there were good things, it showed premise for a moment and you even started to dream that changes might be heading their way, but that was just an illusion. Soon enough, it fall back into the usual ways of Entourage and nothing changed, everything got back to normal leaving you, sadly, disappointed.
This season had a few moments where we saw things might change, whether it was Ari being offered a massive promotion or Vince deciding to finally fully trust Ari and let him work his magic, but it never happened. Now, Vince was still not doing well, he was broke, without a job, and - one might thing - even in a worse situation than before, because while Medellin might not have been all that fresh in everyone’s memory, he was now out of another big failure that didn’t even get made, cause of him, Smoke Jumpers.
And I liked that for a moment things might be changing, after always being so detached, after always seeming unaffected by all that happened in his career, Vince was really taking a hit and feeling low, he was pissed. Pissed that he couldn’t even get an audition anymore, pissed that things weren’t looking good, but pretty bad, pissed because it looked as if he was failing. For a change he was affected and reacting, and even better was his decision to let E go.
Could have been interesting to finally do what he said he would do, but never did : fully trust and listen to Ari. Just like seeing E working with his other client and grow outside of Vince could have been something worth watching. But alas, in the end it all was reset to the usual ways of the show, everything falling into Vince’s hands way too easily.
Now E is back, because screw Ari you should listen to E, he’s the one who get Vince his next gig. And what a gig! He’ll be the lead in the next Scorsese movie, no less! Which also, and I have to mention this again, reminds me how silly the whole Smoke Jumpers thing felt to me. Over 120 million dollars invested, and because the director is crazy they just kill the movie, just like that. Even though Edward Norton was supposedly involved in the project, as the lead and a producer, in fact he was the one who got interested in the script, decided the movie would happen, and be a big budget studio feature.
Yet, it was all killed after weeks of shooting and all that money spend, because the director was crazy, and didn’t like the studio pick as second lead, even though everyone thought he did a good job, from his entourage to the studio to Gus van Sant or Martin Scorsese, who liked it so much he gave Vince the lead in his next feature! (Despite the failure for that movie probably put on Vince’s back.)
Anyways, this season Vince had to bounce back on top, and it looks like he did, but we don’t know why, or how? He didn’t really fight for it, he didn’t follow Ari, once again E was right and just like that everything is back to normal. Now, my only wish is that next season, they cut the crap : Vince stars in the new Scorsese, it’s a huge hit, and finally the show can be about Vincent Chase again, the international movie star, not just in Queens but everywhere.
Last things: Turtle’s mom was freaking hilarious, and I surely hope that he keeps having (phone) sex with Jamie-Lynn Sigler because we need to see him having actually something to do on his own, and a relationship that last more than two episodes could be a good thing. Especially if it pushes him to do more than just drive Vince around…
All in all this wasn’t a bad episode, or a bad season, but it wasn’t all that exciting either. Let’s say it was the obligatory moment of doubt and uncertainty after crashing down on Medellin, and pray that next season bring the crazy fun entertainment back to the show!
What did you think ? Happy about the way things ended ? Was this a good season ? Do you want Vince to be a movie star (again) ? Is he really that good of an actor ??
