Entourage: Play’n With Fire

By fred | November 17, 2008

Entourage(S05E11) We’re getting dangerously close to the end of this season, as next week will be the season finale of Entourage. This was not the last episode of the season, and yet it’s easy to see how it could have worked as a finale very well. In fact, and while I’m not sure what’s going to happen during the actual season finale, I almost wish this had been it.

Because it was a pretty cool episode, lots to enjoy, and the ending could have actually worked very nicely as a way to say goodbye to the boys for the time being. But when thinking about it, I’m really glad we have one more week to make things change and end the season in a different place, I just hope they’ll do it right. Because one thing that happened too many times this season, is to gave the impression that changes could be on the way, that things could be different, only to always resort back to the old ways of the show.

Ending this season just like the last one, with a failure for Vince and leaving the next season for him to do his come back that would make it (again) the movie star everyone hopes he can be, would be quite a disappointment, really. We’ve been there already and it’s time to move on now, and actually make things happen.

I’m not sure Vince if supposed to be a good actor or not. I mean, I’m guessing we’re to believe the director had it against him, and sure it was take 108 or something so maybe Vince was more pissed than anything else, but in the end when asked for more emotions, passion and despair, all Vince could do it scream louder… not really sure that’s the way to do it. But apparently everyone at the studio liked what he was doing, so I guess he’s supposed to be good.

As I said as soon as problems arose for Vince, it was easy to see that he never wanted Vince on the movie but had to deal with him because the studio forced it. But this paid out really well, because finally Ari was made aware of all the troubles Vince had on set - I always wondered why he was left in the dark so long - and while E is a pussy who does and says nothing pretty much, Ari is a man of action.

And just how awesome was he ?? The way he tried to do all he could for Vince was just brilliant, just how cool was it to see him bluffing everyone, Dana included ?? I loved it, he’s the best. The whole thing turned out to be really good, especially when Dana acted tough and the director went nuts, literally. Really cool stuff.

One thing I don’t understand at all, though, is how come Edward Norton was nowhere to be seen ?? It looked almost as if Vince was the most important player on that project alongside the director, while in fact Norton is supposed to be a major player in this. If the movie was happening in the first place, it was because Norton liked the script, and decided to make adjustments and turn it into a big production.

It was because Norton got involved, being both a producer and the lead of the movie. So it would only make sense, to me, that he was involved in this mess. Because it’s also his project, because he’s involved in it, a lot, and it’s Edward freaking Norton, he’s not nobody, and I’m sure he could find someone to take over or just direct it himself or something. That was the one thing that I thought was really wrong in this whole otherwise brilliant explosion of rage, anger, power and egos.

One a side note, is it me or has Drama become really annoying ?? Every time he opened his mouth this week, I wished someone would just shut him up already! It’s a shame, he used to be a cool character, but not anymore. I was glad however to see Sal, I mean Turtle, finally having a story on his own, as Jamie-Lynn Sigler and was still very much interested in him — remains to be seen whether it’s because he’s a loser of not.

I do hope she’ll stick around for more, because it would really be stupid to bring her back like that and not go anywhere with this. We need her & Turtle to date for a while now, and maybe it’s be nice to see Turtle trying to do something on his own, whether it’s a restaurant or “Lim-hos” business.

So far so good, let’s hope next week will end the season in a satisfying way, leaving hope and excitement for next season…

What did you think of the episode ? Do you think Vince is actually a good actor, or was the director right ? Can you stand Drama ? Just how awesome was Ari this week ? Don’t be shy and share your thoughts in the comments below…
