Entourage: Pie

By fred | November 3, 2008

Entourage(S05E09) Despite what it might sometimes look like, on Entourage we never really have to worry about anything, because in the end it always work out nicely for Vince and the boys. Oh sure, when they went full on into Medellin it wasn’t really a success, and Vince’s career hasn’t been skyrocketing ever since that one came out and was trashed like no movie before it had been.

But still, it was without much trouble that E got his hands on a magical script, one that got Edward Norton involved so it is going to be turned into a really big production movie, a potential hit, not some low-budget indie movie that would kill Ari. And thank God there was a death for the right person at the right time, putting Ari in the perfect position to put his client back on track, and in the movie.

In other words, why should we worry about Smoke Jumpers ? It is going to be great and re-launch Vince’s career, it will. That why this episode didn’t really work for me I think. Oh sure, it was great to see Vince on the set actually shooting something, cause that’s something we don’t usually get to see, unless it’s a crappy commercial to air in Japan or something.

This time we did, and there’s no question this isn’t a low-budget project anymore ! Dozens of helicopters, explosions everywhere, this is huge, and very well done I shall add. It was great, but the drama behind the scene didn’t take for me. First, Drama and Turtle pulling out lame pranks wasn’t really funny, and I am just amazed that E doesn’t do nothing, ever.

When Vince complained that no one said anything when he first got line stolen, my initial reaction was to look at E. He supposedly has other clients, but I sure hope they don’t rely on him for anything otherwise they’ll die of starvation real soon. E is always with Vince, he’s on set, and if that’s not to help his only “real” client, basically, then why is it??

When no one said anything, E’s voice should have been heard. He should have gotten up and talked to someone, because that way there’s no tension between Vince and anybody else, and things can be straighten up, and that’s kinda his job, or is he just paid to stand there and do nothing at all ?

Anyways, as I said earlier, because we know it’s all gonna turn out good, it didn’t really work. I’m assuming the idea presently, is that Vince’s lines are being stolen by the director, probably because we’ll have an issue like he didn’t want Vince, doesn’t believe in him, but it was forced upon him by the studio – as we all know is the case.

There could be some struggling there, but this being Entourage it’s easy to know how it’s going to turn out. I also realize that, when last week I posted the poster for Smoke Jumpers, I didn’t realize it would be that spoilery, because it clearly has two names, one being Edward Norton of course, and the other one being on other than our very own Vincent Chase, so he will be in the movie, and he won’t remain quiet all the time. (Not that this was really ever a mystery anyways…)

In other news, Ari met with on old friend, it brought back old memories, he wanted to help him out and forgot he wasn’t really his own boss, maybe screwing him up as a result. We’ll see, but so far it wasn’t all that interesting so I don’t have much else to say about it.

What did you think of the episode ? Do you think the director didn’t want Vince on the movie ? Do you worry about how things will play out ? Are you waiting to see Edward Norton showing up to shoot his scenes ?
