Entourage: Fire Sale

(S05E04) Things aren’t exactly new in the world of Entourage. Let’s face it, it’s not the first time that we are in a that place, where Vince needs to get a new movie and become a movie star (again), and he’s not so much into the latest Hollywood crap they will ask him to do, no instead he’s got this great script he found on his own, thank to E, that he thinks will be a hit and he’d like to do, even though it’s more Indie than blockbuster.
“Been there, done that” could be said about this situation, but I won’t say it. Because as far as I’m concerned, things are still somewhat different this time, because Vince used to be a star, he was Aquaman after all, and now studios aren’t seeing him as a potential future star, but one of the down side, one that is falling after the mess that was Medellin.
Also, in his new role representing the writers E brings something new as well. Oh sure, crazy writers or directors are nothing new, really, but we all knew that with this script there was one thing coming up : E would have to make a choice, Vince or his other clients, the writers. We all knew, or hoped, that such conflict would be created, and there was never any such thing.
So far, E has always put Vince first, and even this time he asks Vince what he should do, he doesn’t want to go “against” him. Because they’re friends, because Vince isn’t in the best situation right now, and because E knows that without Vince none of this would have happened. I really enjoyed the whole negotiations we got to see this week. Sure it wasn’t really the funniest thing ever, but that’s not a problem at all, and at least Entourage was exciting again.
It’s great to see that E is in such a tough situation, and as inexperienced as he can be he (of course) found the next big hit, this time it seems to be a definite thing, and it’s easy enough once again, but with an offer for 2 million and Edward Norton involved, there’s simply no way he doesn’t take that deal. Oh sure, it sucks for Vince because there’s apparently no way he will be allowed on the movie, even as second-lead Ray, but E couldn’t possibly turn down that offer.
And he better not, because I want to see how Vince is going to do without again that special script he got out of his pocket, and I want to see E working on his own and having success without Vince. This whole plot actually makes me eager to find out what happens next, I’m getting really excited again about the show. Studios don’t want Vince, he’s “blacklisted” for now, he tried to use a pop-star to get attention but it’s obviously not going to be enough, and I want to see him & Ari get out of this without a miraculous script, but with struggle and Ari working his magic, making things interesting again.
Meanwhile there was another part in this episode, Drama and The View and that whole mess. It was sad & pathetic, and, sadly, predictable. It’s not Drama, it’s not funny, it’s depressing that’s what it is. They need to find something better for Drama (and Turtle) because so far this season, there’s been nothing good coming from them.
