Eli Stone: Heal The Pain

(S01E07) As every Thursday, after Lost comes a new episode of Eli Stone. As I said earlier, I was a bit disappointed by this week’s episode of Lost, but if I was really not sure about this show not so long ago, last week’s episode really won me over, and I have to say that and its short course so far, the show has really been able to evolve and improve with time.
Not that it started any bad, but like any other show it had flaws, and unlike some shows they have ben working on it and improving things. It’s a really nice thing to see, when a show actually gets better and better week after week.
And I have to say that much like last week, I really enjoyed this episode. This show is really nice, and I do like it more and more every time. At this point it’s not perfect, but after this episode I think there’s only one thing that really annoys me, Maggie.
I don’t know about you, but I really can’t stand her. Every time she shows up on screen my mind gets filled with ideas of murder. I think I really hate her, and I’m not sure I could ever recover from this, should I ever want - but we’re not there anyways. So Eli cannot take any case now, but he was able to team with Maggie - only she was the one in charge.
And guess what ? She actually acted like she really was, giving order and instructing Eli not to talk ! Freaking moron! No really, she tried to shut him up as he was coming up with an actual idea on how to run the case, while how she could think of was listing every single day, asking whether or not the doc worked that day ? Seriously ?
After being in court, she was all proud and bragging how awesome she was, only she was not, she really wasn’t. She had to turn to Eli every single time in order to know what to ask, every time she would turn to him, and when she didn’t read his signs well all she could came up with was, “could you repeat what you said, only louder ?” Yeah, no, that’s not being awesome, really not. How can she yell at Eli for taking the case he does now only because he’d be scared of death, which obviously isn’t the case, while being this retarded, pretentious, incompetent, annoying, obnoxious… well, no I can’t say lawyer because really, she is not. Who the fuck hired her again ?
I really can’t deal with her, even after she finally realized Eli really cared, she was still far from being good at her job, and it’s not just stress because it’s her first time and whatever, she really is bad at her job. And really, that romance between them they’re trying to start between them, oh God please don’t. I, too, want to be driving a bus, but it’s really not Eli I want to hit with it…
Apart from that, the case was pretty nice, with nice twists and developments. Okay, maybe the fact that the hospital that they ended up suing was Eli’s brother was a bit much, and that he spilled some info which allowed for Eli, through Maggie, to win the case, was, too. But overall it was another pretty good case. No musical this time, ut I’m fine with that. Eli’s visions were also less present, but again I don’t think that was a problem, just like I deal just fine without Eli having to go see his friend Chen to have some memory triggered.
I actually like it better like that, and on a side note I also thought that the special effects were better than some of the things we’ve seen in first episodes. And while Eli was working on his case, there was another one, the on-going Matt and Keith case. This one never really got me that interested, nor is it pretty special, but at least it’s done well enough that it never feels like a filler or anything. Whenever it comes up, you don’t wish it could be over and back to the “real” stuff.
Last week I said I wasn’t a fan of Patti, Eli’s secretary, and I confirm that this week her little stupid war with Taylor was really getting on my nerves. It’s a good thing they put an end to this, because it was turning into another Maggie. In the end she’s back working for Eli, and now she can be nice again, in her own twisted way, of course.
Speaking of Taylor, I’m not too sure I care about her and Eli working back together, because really I fail to see any chemistry between her & Eli. It was most obvious during the George Michael concert scene, where I felt a real lack of connection between them. That whole thing actually didn’t work for me as much as it could have, Eli thinking he was having another vision while he wasn’t.
And he should have known right away it wasn’t one, because he didn’t let himself dive into it like he did for his actual visions. Although to be fair, I think the revelation of his aneurysm was a real savior for the show, because sure him buying that there’s an actual dragon outside and jumping on the floor while in the middle of a meeting is pretty stupid, and yes I was going in my head “it’s a freaking vision, don’t…” but before I could finish that sentence Eli was jumping on the floor, and it just made me laugh.
It really did, and I’m sure a few weeks ago it would have annoyed the Hell outta me. Because while still as stupid, at least he’s not trying to hide it for everybody and putting his career on the line, now he can just wake up and call it “aneurysm timeout” and we all move on. This actually makes a real difference I think, and the show is much better now that it used to be when this was a big secret.
The show really improved over time, and - except for Maggie - it’s really fun.

I don’t have too much to say this time around except die maggie die. And a romance?! Really?!?! Ugh. You know, I kind of saw it coming. But please god no! We want her off the show, which naturally means give her more air time.
