DVR Cleaning - Part II : Super-Criminal Reaper

Criminal Minds: Seven Seconds

(S03E05) I’m a bit unsure about this one. I don’t know what you guys thought of it, but it felt a little off to me. Although I’ve seen it a few hours ago already, and I still can’t put my fingers on what’s the reason for this.

Unlike last week, which was terrible, this one was a good episode. But it was also a special one, it was different. Because everyone was out on location, even Garcia who usually stays in front of her screens. But because it all happened in a row, in one single location under lock-down, so even the interactions with the local PD were different as well, and my overall feeling is that is was… off.

As I said I am not sure exactly of the reasons for this, but my latest though is to link it to Gideon’s departure. Simply because he used to be a pillar of the show and the dynamic between all characters, now that he’s gone there’s a hole to be “filled” somehow. It can be by addition of a new character, it can be by having current characters to adjust their ways, and will probably be a mix of both.

But for now, it felt to me like writers were used to write for the full team, and still haven’t fully adapted to the new situation they’re in. Either that, or this whole special situation simply resulted in a weaker episode. After all it wasn’t really hard, again, to predict how everything were going to go and end up all along the way…

Supernatural: Sin City

(S03E04)This is going it be the best season yet“, that’s what producers of the show said during the whole mess of fans worrying about the addition of a couple of hot chicks to the cast. And, because this is a stupid thing every one says every year about the new season of their series, I was the first to point that out.

For some, it was obviously an enormous lie as this last season of Prison Break is without question the worst one ever. But for Supernatural on the other hand, they might have been right!

When I first saw Bobby, and I do like the guy, but I wished we would get an episode without anyone helping our boys, no helping Demons, no other hunters, no one. But now that the episode is over, I can easily say that I don’t care. I think I’d still like an episode with only the two of them, but it’s all so very well done I can’t find reasons to complain.

SupernaturalThis episode had a different tone to it, it was a bit “slower”. After an old buddy of his got killed by a super hot demon (Sasha Barrese), something I really liked, and laughed at, Dean got stuck with her in some basement. And they got to talk a bit. This could have easily gone extremely wrong and turn into a lame move to get a few things said without really any introduction or reason for them to be said.

But as everything this season, it was very well done. I liked the humor, I liked to see Dean curious and unsure about this trip to Hell, I loved the whole Lucifer bits, and how he’s seen by demons, I liked the (usual) mention of humans being quite an awful kind, and I liked Dean questioning, again, whether or not Sam really is Sam.

They really want us to question this as well, they repeat it in the “previously” bits, and in every episode almost, in more or less subtle ways, and I secretly hope we all end up really questioning it only to be fooled, because he was still 100% Sam. But yes, I’m doing some questioning myself, obviously. And I really liked how the role of the two were reversed, in the end, and how Sam - who usually is the caring one - just shot both demons without even thinking about it, while Dean - who usually is the shoot first and ask later kinda guy - wanted to keep the hot demon around for a bit.

But who’s to blame him, didn’t we all want her to stay around longer ?

On the story, it was really good. I loved how Saw kept throwing water in the face of regular people! Great bit. And I’ll admit it, despite finding it odd to see the priest in the bar, I went along with Sam, because the guy had the look of someone suspicious, and also the fact that he was portrayed by Don S. Davis had me assumed he would actually have a more “important” role. Great move.

It was obvious that the real demon knew who Sam was all along the way, and their discussion on the car was as such filled with “double meaning”, which was also a really nice thing.

I think I should mention Ruby, and how she keeps helping the gang. She probably wants something she doesn’t mention, out of Sam. She might be after the power amongst demons, since we know there’s no leader anymore, maybe she doesn’t even really know what it is she wants out of Sam, maybe she first needs to find out why he was meant to be so special, maybe she’s lying through her teeth all along… I’m dying to find out.

Hottie Casey did shared lots of info, and had a few great lines. I just can’t leave without at least one : “You Winchester boys are famous. Not Lohan famous but you know…

Okay, that’s not actually the one I wanted to quote, it was that one :

- Is my kind really all that different than yours ?
- Well. Except that… that demons are evil.
- And humans are such a lovable bunch ? Dick Cheney !
- He one of yours ?
- Not yet, but let’s just say he’s got a parking spot reserved for him downstairs.
