DVR Cleaning: My Name Is Scrubs, Chuck Who?

By fred | October 27, 2007

As always during the week-end I’m trying to find enough time to watch all the episodes I didn’t get a chance to watch during the week. It’s not that easy, being the TVoholic than I am I do spend a lot of time on it, but I also watch an awful lot of shows. I still have many more to watch, but here are a few thoughts on My Name Is Earl, the season premiere Scrubs entering its very last season, a new Samantha Who? and Chuck.

My Name is Earl: Frank’s Girl

(S03E06) Well well… this episode could easily be split in two, I’d say. One part was good, the other I’m not so sure. Obviously the first part was about Earl and his new list, back on to doing good things. That was the good part.

It was really good, despite being restricted to the prison area they managed to do that so that you didn’t feel any kind of limits or constraints on their side. Well, not any that would be a bother at least. It was pretty funny, and you even had Alyssa Milano as a guest to get thingsĀ hot!

I’ve said before that I wasn’t so sure about the whole prison deal. This time, I didn’t mind it so much. For the first part that is. But let’s not go out and forget about that second part, the part where they realized that with Earl in jail they needed completely independent stories and plot lines for all the other characters, half-circle, except for Randy of course, half-circle, even those we usually only/mostly see around Earl and his brother.

So they came up with that new catfight between Catalina and Joy. I didn’t really like it. I didn’t find it funny, I’m a little over the two of them hating each other and fighting all the time, plus it seemed way too forced for me. I mean sure Joy is crazy and all, but did Catalina & her really have to be around each other, that much ?? Because usually - and by usually I mean when Earl isn’t in jail - they don’t.

So while it was better than some this season, it was still not as good an episode as others have been, and I really wonder how long that prison thing is going to last, because while they may be able to find some good stories for Earl and his brother, when it comes to Catalina, Darnell and Joy, it just feels off. And I like those guys.

Oh and, of course, I don’t care if you’re Karma’s new bitch or what, you don’t throw away a picture of a naked Alyssa Milano. Ever. That’s a sin.

Scrubs: My Own Worst Enemy

Scrubs(S07E01) I’ll be honest : when this week started, I didn’t really miss Scrubs, I just wasn’t thinking about it. I was totally absorbed by all the series on the air, I simply didn’t had time. A couple of seconds in this episode, it suddenly all came back to me, I fall in love with it all over again and I couldn’t believe how I actually missed it!

How did I manage to do all that time without my Scrubs ? And more important, how the Hell will I survive after this very last season ??

About the episode ? Well, I liked it, I liked it a lot. It felt exactly like the show did last season I think. A few people haven’t been so happy with it I heard, but as far as I’m concerned it’s all good. It has some laughing out loud moments, it’s got all the things that made Scrubs this amazing little show that it is, and while it wasn’t absolutely hilarious and we’ve seen better episodes, it was still a pretty good one.

I liked that JD & Elliot did not kiss. I think it’s good that she dumped Keith, the two of them weren’t really a great match. I’m unsure about JD, what he’ll do now, and how it will be funny. The plot with Turk wasn’t that new or funny, but all different plots were good in the end, they all were nicely mixed with each other and the whole episode felt like a uniformly good and funny half-hour.
