DVR Cleaning: Criminal Scrubs, My Name Is Samantha

By fred | November 18, 2007

As every weekend I have a pretty filled DVR, and I’m trying to watch as much as I can before going into a new week. After all a new week is about to begin, and except for The Office there are still new episodes coming in.

I’ve had a few problems this week with my computer amongst other things, and I still had to work on fixing it. Anyways, I’ve just watched a few shows and here we go with a great Criminal Minds, Scrubs, My Name Is Earl and the very last episode Samantha Who? as far as I’m concerned.

Criminal Minds: Lucky

(S03E08) So this time this is done, Rossi is in. I mean we had the introduction episode, we had the first case as part of the team, so now it’s a done deal. That doesn’t mean everything is right in place already, and no, it is not, but at least things are moving on. Writers have definitely found their way back, and the writing on the show is now back to the usual quality we are to expect from this show.

Criminal MindsNow that doesn’t mean people will like that Rossi guy, and in fact I’m not a fan of his myself. He’s improved from his first ever appearance, but I liked the little talk he and Morgan had, and how Morgan won it in the end : “I was giving you an opportunity for personal grow“. Rossi sure is no Gideon, the two are very different characters and I do feel like Rossi is a bit too much of a pretentious type, and he seems to have a great knowledge on things and serial killers, but he approaches the whole thing in a much colder way than Gideon did, Gideon was more more into emotions, feelings and penetrating the killers’ minds.

Probably more a thing of personal taste than anything else, though. With that said, I also that Gideon was definitely the leader of the gang, but never was he claiming that position nor making sure people, inside or outside the team, was aware of that fact.

Rossi would be in the same spot, I got a feeling things would be pretty different. But I feel that, at least for now, Rossi isn’t in the same spot. For now the team looks much more on an equal level for all people, and if there was one to take the lead it would be Hotch.

Apart from that, this was once again a pretty solid case. Truth be told, I thought this was one of the best serial killer / monster they’ve had to track in a while. “Serving” one of his victim to everyone, making them all part of his craziness and eating human flesh, now that was genius. Geniusly evil. And the guy looked perfect as such a distorted soul.

I wasn’t sure about the opening scene, cause it gave us a lot more information about the case and the killer that they had, and I was afraid it would spoil the fun somehow. Happy to report that it did not.

Of course I have to mention the Garcia part of the episode. Now that part I pretty much hated. For a few reasons. Like, Morgan was supporting her, he did not encourage her not to go on a date, but to trust her guts. That’s what she did, and while he may not have done it the best way he was only going along with how she felt about the whole situation in the first place.

Also, we’re talking about Garcia. The computer freak Garcia, the girl that - especially if she was to think something could be fishy about the guy - would have had no trouble to take 5 minutes to check out the whole life of the guy to check if something was wrong with him or not. Lastly, it also felt like a cheap way to bring the whole team closer as they were fighting for one of their own, and I think maybe they should have waited a bit longer to go there.
