Samantha Who?: The Virgin

(S01E04) This episode was nothing but a confirmation of what could already be seen last time, and planned as soon as you saw the pilot, and it’s not good. The first episode was packed with a lot of things to say, Samantha had to say about 99.9% of those, and so it was really tense, there wasn’t a second for her to breathe or relax and that intensity and rhythm actually had us not to mind about the clichés and resulted in a funny episode.

That was he pilot. But ever since, and while they keep focusing on Samantha and her only, it’s more “relaxed” now. She’s more calm, and she already knows she lost her memory and all. All that’s left is not that bad, but quite cliché and definitely not very funny, I’m afraid.

For instance, during this episode I didn’t laugh, at all, not once. It was too easy, too predictable, and most important not funny (enough). Even what she wrote on her notebook didn’t work this time, and the only time I thought it could actually be “funny”, had she wrote there “Sleep with mom” in the end, they did not.

The new Sam isn’t very funny, her memory lost turn more ludicrous than anything at times, and the flashback to the old Sam aren’t funny either. I’ll probably give it one more try but if it doesn’t improve, and by that I mean make me laugh, I won’t bother anymore.

Chuck: Chuck Versus The Alma Mater

(S01E07) I honestly do not see the appeal with this show, I don’t get it. To me this was another typical episode of Chuck, and I would imagine that as such all fans of this show, and there seem to be so many of them out there, will have enjoy this episode.

As far as I’m concerned, I did not.

It was again filled with a lot of clichés, the whole thing is so predictable it’s getting tough not to sleep during the episode, and oh boy were there again so many stupid things and scenes !

ChuckHonestly, who did not see that “twist” coming, that Bryce was after all a good guy who got Chuck out for his own good ? You could totally see that coming miles away. I’m not saying the whole thing, him being CIA and Chuck on his way, but the twist itself definitely. And after that first flashback of Chuck packing out and Bryce looking “cold”, it was a done deal.

Yet it took a long while to get there, and the ride wasn’t even fun. See, Chuck is the kind of guy who’s working for the CIA and other governmental agencies of spies, who knows there’s a killer sent after an old professor of his, and when talking with him, hearing and seeing the professor obviously getting hit, doesn’t put two and two together.

When the guy drops dead on him, he’s still all chatty and trying to be funny, and that’s a typical thing writers do on that show, but that’s just so stupid and pathetic to me, that he would not understand that something was wrong, that he would not call for help until after the killer went away and Sarah & Casey are coming out, I mean come on!

There’s one scene I liked, though, on the Morgan story. The fight of those geeks going channel after channel having to identify which show it was, that was pretty cool I thought. The little reference to The O.C., a show created by the same guy behind this one, that actually made me laugh! But then the asshole doing his speech all proud with his remote, even with the Lord Of The Rings reference, nope, back to annoying ludicrous things.

At least next week I’ll have a reason to watch, Rachel Bilson is finally making her first appearance on the show. I can’t wait.
