Chuck: Chuck Versus The Crown Vic

By fred | December 4, 2007

Chuck(S01E11) So, I’m starting to wonder… why the Hell am I still watching this show ? (Oh yeah, right, I hate it. I forgot.) This time there was no Rachel, not even some kind of cliffhanger to hold on to, it was pure Chuck. And again, not liking the show that much I don’t think I had any expectations for this episode, although I knew that it was going to be the last one for some time.

Unlike Heroes there should be at least a couple more episodes ready, but they won’t be airing this year. So this was a mid-season finale, and if you haven’t seen it already don’t get any hopes or expectations or else you’ll be disappointed.

Okay, maybe I don’t get the show, but that whole spy mission of the week wasn’t that good, it was only a mean to have all the sexual tension between Chuck and Sarah to be played. Why now, and not last week when Bryce was around ? Who cares, Sarah is freaking hot in the morning and that’s more than enough to please the male audience, I guess.

But other than that it wasn’t very good, or new. They’re uncomfortable around each other, Chuck is getting jealous when she goes around wearing bikinis for others, then he flashes but things don’t go nowhere so it’s her turn, and she starts accusing him of being a “flash faker”, eventually they shake hands on being friends. None of that is really entertaining, neither is Casey suddenly in love with his car, so of course they find a way to blow it up - thanks Chuck - in that same episode, all of that using some stupid GPS crap not silly enough to make me smile.

Meanwhile with Morgan, none of that plot was good. Sure I probably don’t get the humor on that show, but him meeting Anna’s parents was not even close to being funny. The scene was boring and painful to watch. Because it wasn’t just some awful cliché but also, well, it didn’t work. Morgan was either not enough his real self, or not trying hard enough to be someone else, like the overly serious type. He was somewhere in between and the result was really not good for anyone.

The only thing I kinda liked was that phone call from Casey. We’ve already seen that they were working on a “replacement” for Chuck, I mean the Intersect, and it seems it will be ready soon, and it looks just like the first one, how… whatever. It will be ready, and they’ll have to get ride of Chuck then. And by they, I mean Casey. And by getting ride, I mean kill - of course.

Now that could get interesting, but we all know it won’t happen so there’s already no real suspense. The only question is how will Chuck get out of this mess, and whether or not Casey will help. And if not, will we get a Sarah versus Casey fight ? And will they have Chuck to somehow manage to ingest the new Intersect all over again, also a way to update his data, because they’ll realize that all those data with the power of a human brain - and one from a nerd at that - is better than using a standard computer, no matter how futuristic it may be.

Although Chuck isn’t the brightest guy ever, and if you thought he was done screaming “bad guy! bad guy!!” when he flashes, think again. Sure, it was all about a joke about boobs this time, but that’s just the best way to get yourself killed. Hasn’t he learn anything at all from his previous mistake ?

All in all I really felt this episode was one of the weakest of the season so far, and many things just didn’t work. Starting with Morgan and how he behaves with his friends, work and girlfriend. In fact, I don’t think any of the Buy More scenes were any good this week. And the whole thing with the missile and how easy it was for Chuck to work his way with it, I’d rather not comment at this point.

Really, the only reason they aired this one was because it had the Christmas theme going on, otherwise last week’s was much stronger to work as a fall finale.

PS: Remember how I said I hate NBC for all their freaking annoying ads about the next show, the one after that, what premieres next year ? Well, kudos to them for going een further and putting big ads for DVDs now as well! Seriously, fuck you NBC!
