Change the picture in the box

(S03E17) Here’s something that’s been kinda bothering me for a while with Lost, that I forgot to mention before : there has been nothing whatsoever relating to the ending of the previous season. And I don’t even mean the missing-a-toe statue, but the very last scene on the season 2 finale, that obviously they could have not made at all, it was something they wanted to do, so we’re right to assume they know why, they’ve got a plan for this.
Yet, nothing at all had been said, even remotely, about those Portuguese guys working for Desmond’s fiancée & catching a signal, supposedly from the Hatch implosion.
So as you can imagine, I was thrilled that – finally – we heard about it in this episode. Ok sure, it was not any kind of revelation/explanation or whatever, we still don’t know what they catch, and how they knew where/what to look for, but still :
Yes, Penny catch something. Not only that, she was able not just to somehow locate that damn mysterious Island, but also to send someone there, and without even the need of using a submarine! How about that!?
Sure, one can argue she’s not behind all this, etc. But I do believe she is. I never thought she would actually be (or had been, at one point) the one coming on the Island, despite Desmond actually saying he knew so with all his heart.
Desmond is a man of faith, he really wanted her to be there, but just put things in perspective: why would she be there? She’s running the whole thing, she’s the big rich boss. No way she’s gonna actually go down anywhere until she’s 100% sure that Desmond is indeed here, that it’s safe, that she can go there, pick him up & come back, etc
But still, it was without a doubt (in my mind) someone she did send there, to look for Desmond. And again, that’s a huge revelation : she did locate & found a way to get to the Island ! Despite the allegedly need of a submarine & everything that could have been said about getting on the Island, she found her way in.
Now let’s see what happens once Sayid get the satellite phone to work & they call for help!
About Desmond’s vision. This time we got to see them as well, and it got pretty interesting. Especially because he seemed convinced that what he saw was a “picture in a box that he could change, and he didn’t really want that to happen. Because he wanted Penny, or whoever it actually is, to get there. Yet, watching it back you’ll see that what he saw the first time was conflicted : he saw Charlie die, but he also saw him later on holding the chute along with Jin & Hurley. Look again, there is definitely 3 people holding the thing, and the one on top has to be Charlie : same clothes, same bracelet…
So what does that mean? Did Desmond saw a mixed of two possible outcome? Did he saw what the Island wanted him to saw as to make him act as needed, a move like the Others like to do : lying to you only to get you to do what needs to be done? Was this only an error Lost people didn’t catch?
I doubt it, because it’s pretty obvious when you know from what scene you take footage from, that Charlie’s in it, so if he’s supposed to be dead : don’t, or shoot another one.
