Back to You, Gossip Girl!

By fred | September 21, 2007

No, this title isn’t random, and does in fact relate to two new shows that premiered on Wednesday : Back To You, and Gossip Girl.

Back To YouAnd I want to start with Back To You, the “new” “sitcom” from Fox. Oh yes, if you happened to watch the show, you might have not realized this, so let me tell you : it was a sitcom. Yes, the one as in situation comedy, like a half-hour show that makes you laugh, that one.

I know, I know, it’s hard to believe, that such a shitty “old school” unfunny piece of crap would actually exists in today’s year of 2007. And make it to the air. And on a big network even! I want to throw up.

This show completely sucks, it’s like the piece of shit you’d had to sit through when watching TV 20 or 30 years ago. And don’t start with the fact that they were aiming at such on “old school” style or whatnot, because that’s not what I mean. I mean it sucks, badly.

Remember That 70’s Show ? That show was taking place in the seventies, you could tell, but it was goddamn funny, hilarious even, it was well written, well made, actors did a great job, the seventies were just part of the show, a good, funny sitcom.

Back To You, on the other hand, is re-using old so-called “jokes” that are 30 years old, and somehow they expect us to be find them funny and laugh, while I’m not sure anyone laughed back then when they first heard them.

I’m back!

Question: Did you laugh at that previous line (”I’m back!“) ? Because according to Back To You’s writers, you should have. Remember the horror you went through when you tried to watch that show, I know it was hard to heard as you were probably screaming quite loud, it really was that horrible, but sometimes they were some laughs-in-box added here and there.

Apparently it wasn’t mistakes, it’s because they thought whatever was said, or happened, right before - was funny.

I just realized this earlier today : I think writers on that show, besides reusing old unfunny “jokes”, probably never actually laugh. They probably have an idea, a line, a joke, a situation they come up with, and then they go “oh that’s funny”. But they don’t laugh.
