30 Rock: Kidney Now! [season finale]

(S03E22) Now this is how to make a good season finale. On most shows, by season end something huge must be happening, whether good or bad it must be huge and possibly end on a cliffhanger, to urge viewers to come back next season. Now on a show such as 30 Rock where the TV clichés are usually mocked or turned into parodies, I think we were right to expect something a little different.
Another thing you often see during season finale, is guests. Of course, 30 Rock already went down that road at the beginning of the season, where every single episode was welcoming a new guest star week after week, from Oprah to Steve Martin to Jenifer Aniston, and since while some of those episodes were a lot of fun many have “complained” that we didn’t get to see the actual cast of the show, and the writers, enough, of course they did what they did.
They brought in as many celebrities as they possibly could, to make one Hell of a musical event. But the great thing is that it worked, it worked perfectly because they didn’t make a big deal out of it, they waited for the end of the episode and just made them all sing. So in the end, it worked very nicely, and that musical was hilarious and the best way to close this season, without a doubt.
That being said, I will say again that I wished the writers had been seen more, or at all, but with also Alan Alda to deal with, and of course how they need to find one plot for Jenna and one of Tracy, it’s not easy. It’s also why some of those plots might have seemed a little rushed, and I wasn’t really a fan of Tracy’s plot – except for the montage of him crying.
I loved however how they kept making parallel with Liz and Fey, or TGS and 30 Rock, with both ladies getting a book deal and both shows possibly only having a couple more years in them (maybe less, who’s to say NBC will still be around in two years?). Another thing I loved with Liz’s comment about what a good year they had, to which Jack replied “What are you talking about? It’s May!”
One other thing that I loved about this finale also, was the return of Dr Spaceman. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, this guy is the funniest character of the show, every single time he’s on it’s a laughs riot. Not once has he disappointed, and I don’t know if “kidney” really is that funny a word, but the guy is hilarious! That said, I really wouldn’t trust him with anything medical, much less a transplant (especially since he doesn’t know which way it goes)!
What did everybody else think?

SEASON FINALE OF 30 ROCK….AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!
