24: 10.00am - 11.00am

24(S07E03) We’re already back into the latest day of Jack Bauer, and I think there’s two things that could be said about this episode. Well there’s actually a bit more, but there are two main elements that it did inspire, one of them was good while the other was actually bad. So I will start with the bad one of course, because you always get the bad news first, right?

The bad news is that you’ve already seen it. This episode, even before you actually sat down and watch it, you’ve have seen it. It happens sometimes, and when it does it’s never a good sign. Actually, for a moment there it made me hate the show and its writers, because if there’s one thing they cannot say is that they didn’t had time to think about this new season, or had to rush into it, so I think we’re entitled for more.

And by more, I mean something else that what we’ve already seen before, on 24. Because of course Tony isn’t really a bad guy, I don’t think anyone actually believed he really was a terrorist planning to kill a bunch of American people for money, revenge, or whatever his motives could be. But isn’t the whole idea that they had to go undercover and not tell anyone because everyone is (potentially) corrupted, CIA, CTU, FBI, even the White House! If not the President (and why not, we’ve seen that before, haven’t we?) then her right arm might be directly involved with terrorists.

Yeah, it sounds extremely familiar, doesn’t it? Now when you add to that some boring filler about “who’s the mole?” which include a scene where one needs to go to the special server room to log on to a specific server to get the name of that one person betraying his country, only so that when the name pops up on the screen, said person appears right behind you on that very room… I’m sorry, but why do I feel (again) like I’ve seen this in a previous season already ?? Were writers really out of ideas ??

That part sucked, really much so. But here’s the good news : sure, maybe you’ve seen it already, but here’s the thing : it still kicks ass!

Oh yes it does, I mean how cool was it to see Jack and Tony working together again, alone, them vs the world, starting with CTU the FBI and escaping, Jack leading the way with Chloe on his ear. Yes, known faces very back and they included our beloved Chloe! And Bill, too. I gotta say, I was pretty happy to see them, for some reason, and I just loved Chloe’s words to Jack, the whole “nice to hear your voice - I saw the Senate hearing - you looked good, by the way” thing was just awesome, and made me laugh!

I never believed Tony was really truly bad, though the things he said to Jack were pretty tough. Of course, it was all a ruse to get him the password and start the new dynamic. One thing is different from before though : this time, they are all alone, so they are breaking the law — well, more than usual that is. Because even if they were to succeed, they were still active terrorists, not undercover agents. Not really. Really not.

It seems that while we’re questioning Jack about his methods, torture and all (something Agent Walker wasn’t opposed to herself, it seems…) at the same time he and one of the best A-Team in a long time with Tony, Bill and Chloe, are all still going by the Jack Bauer’s book, and do whatever needs to be done to bring down the enemy and do good, even if that means breaking the law and doing bad on occasion. I don’t know if that’s supposed to mean anything more, but it’s there.

Couple more things about this episode, before I go watch the next one :

- Apparently, we live in a world where all the best hackers are or have been working for the government, and are all females. Go figure. That said, Chloe remains the #1, no question there.

- I was actually laughing out loud when Jack “escaped” the parking lot, putting his hand on the accelerator and going “this is gonna hurt“. Not sure it was meant to be funny, but it sure made me laugh out loud.

- There’s nothing like a good old friendship. “Sorry about the horrible things I told you back there. - That’s okay, sorry I almost broke your neck.” Aww…

- Some stuff took place at the White House, I guess, but I have to say at this point it’s not all that interesting, so I’m just glad we’re focusing on Jack and Tony more. About that, much like Jack we all want to know what the Hell is going on ! What are they doing ? How ? Why ? Are they all alone ? How did Tony die without dying ??

- So is Kanin (the President Chief of Staff) part of the conspiracy ? Or does he actually believe what’s in the file he gave the First Gentleman about his son, who really did not commit suicide ?

What did you guys thought of this episode ? Was anyone surprised that Tony wasn’t a terrorist ? Any idea who the FBI mole really is ?
