Fox’s plans for 2009 have now made public, and there are two things that are really worth nothing, two changes that took place compared to the original plans the Network had, two changes actually quite linked to each other : Originally, Bones was set to move on Fridays.
No really, it was, those idiots at Fox keep moving it around and treat the show like it wasn’t the little awesome thing it is, pulling 10 million viewers each week. And maybe that’s why they change their minds, when realizing that even without House near-by, the show was still a hit. That’s for the good news, now the bad news comes from who’s taking over that infamous death slot.
No other than Joss Whedon’s latest sci-fi creation, Dollhouse, is set to air on Fridays, premiering Friday, January 13th. No really. I’ll give you a minute to scream away as those horrible flashbacks and memories of Firefly come to mind…
Many of USA hit-series are on a their usual hiatus for now, but they’ll be back next year. USA announced today that Monk & Psych will resume their current seasons on Friday, January 9th at 9.00 and 10.00, respectively, while Burn Notice will be back a few weeks later, Thursday, January 22nd at 10.00
In the meanwhile, Monk and Psych will come back on November 28th for their usual Christmas episodes. And if you can’t wait, here’s a little sneak peek at Psych’s episode, Christmas Joy :
Don’t get your hopes up though, chances are you’ve already seen it all.
Yeah, sorry… nothing new coming up, but if you missed the show during its original airing on CBS, or just want to see the show again because your DVR blew up or something, you’ll be happy to know Sci-Fi will be airing repeats of two series canceled before coming to any resolution.
Repeats of ABC drama Invasion - which never had an ending - will start on Sci-Fi Friday, January 23rd at 8.00 followed by repeats of CBS vampire romance Moonlight at 9.00, and leading into Battlestar Galactica at 10.00
With the election we had no Fringe last night, but to make up for it how about looking back at some of those unexpected and surprisingly funny moments the crazy & mysterious Walter Bishop keeps having…
There’s been lots of talks and rumors about genius Joss Whedon’s new series, Dollhouse, which Whedon himself answered so that everyone could stop spreading it for no reasons. And now, instead of that, let’s all focus on the goods as a new trailer has just been released.
Now if you’re already existed about the show, starring Eliza Dushku, this will surely get you even more excited about it ! I know it worked for me, and I just can’t wait for the show to premiere. No official dates have been set yet, but it can’t be soon enough!
With the strike in the middle of last season, it’s been an awfully long time since we’ve seen Jack Bauer on our screens, which is even more sad looking bad at how horrible last season was… But don’t worry, he’s coming back to save us all one more time !
This very month, on Sunday, November 23rd at 8.00 on Fox we have the two-hour movie, 24: Redemption, to get all back in the mood. And the new season of 24 premieres on Sunday, January 11th at 8.00 when we’ll have the first two hours of Jack’s seventh day, followed the very next day, Monday, January 12th at 8.00 with the next two hours. After that, the series will move to its regular time slot, Mondays at 9.00, starting January 19th.
In the mean time, here’s the trailer of the movie to get you on edge :
* Excuse me, but I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. Yes, NBC picked up for a full season their latest crap, Kath & Kim, proving once again how much trouble they were in. Either that, or it’s just because the show happens to come from Ben Silverman’s production company Reveille, and since the guy is crazy and clearly loves to put really bad show on the air.
Anyways, the back-nine order is there, and since I seriously doubt either Crusoe - which is bad and performing and worse - or the newly sent to die Lipstick Jungle - which wouldn’t even be doing nicely if on The CW - will get a pick-up, I can only hope Life will get its much-deserved back-nine order. Otherwise, I won’t bother with any new shows on NBC which, based on their new series so far this season, wouldn’t change much anyway for me.
Or why the former simply has a higher probability at success than the later.
Before going into this, let’s make sure to preface by saying that this will not be a post about the quality of shows, because quality is always spoiled with subjectivity and everyone has a different opinion on what shows are better than others. Besides, if we were to be honest, I think there’s no doubt that Life On Mars has a higher quality level than Eleventh Hour does.
But quality is one thing, and then there’s plenty more that will play a role to determine the fate of the show. Of course there are things like the slot it’s given, the lead-in, promotion, but let’s focus back on the actual show. Besides quality, there are other factors that will make a show more or less exciting and with a different amount of future possibilities and potential for success.
That will be the match on Wednesday, and I’m not so sure how it will turn out for the pie maker and his friends.
The facts are these, over two weeks ago Obama’s campaign approached all the broadcast networks (except for The CW) about purchasing half an hour of primetime. The idea was to air the same ad on all networks at the same time, leaving no choice to people but to watch it, whatever the network. If CBS and NBC agreed rapidly (reportedly selling the half-hour for around $1 million each), Fox had to check with the Major League Baseball, which eventually agreed to postpone the game by about 15 minutes, thus allowing the net to join in.
Only ABC had yet to agree on the deal, but the Alphabet wasn’t too happy as their Wednesday line-up is already struggling, and by the time they finally agreed to it, Obama’s campaign wasn’t interested anymore, saying the funds had been allocated elsewhere.
Here’s a news that will probably get Moonlight fans to laugh at CBS even more, though in the end it’s kinda depressing to see that this was, obviously, a failure, and yet that won’t get us Mick St. John back…
CBS announced unsurprisingly that, after poor performances - last Friday the show had only 5.3 million viewers and 1.5 on the demo - The Ex List was taken off the air. Effective this Friday the show will be replaced by reruns of The Eye’s ratings-hit NCIS.
Too bad they don’t have some kind of deal with Alex O’Loughlin and 8 millions of avid fans craving to get their favorite bloody romance on the air… (Don’t dream though, it won’t happen, and I’m sure if asked, Tassler would still reiterate all her non-sense excuses that Moonlight wasn’t good, successful, loved, or whatever lies she goes by these days.)
Anyways, only four episodes aired and it remains unclear whether the others - production of episode 11 was ongoing at the time of the announcement - will ever be seen. Although, really, when a show can’t make it on a Friday night, the networks’ graveyard, it pretty much settles it I’d say.
