The Olympics. It’s happening, still right now as we speak, and I have to ask : are you guys happy with the way NBC is covering the games (so far) ??
I’ll be clear: I don’t watch the Olympics, I have not, not even a little, I just don’t care really, and I don’t plan on changing this. But that’s not the point, the question is : how is NBC doing ? Because if you listen to about everyone involved, it seems they couldn’t have done a better job !
Sure, the ratings are great, best in ages, NBC is making billions of dollars and so all is well. But I can’t help but finding this whole mess a real shame myself, and I can’t see why this is to be looked at as nothing but a success for network television. And the fact that it is, has me worried about the future of network television, really…
Remember folks, if you liked Moonlight it was only because you liked to look at Alex O’Loughlin, nothing more, dixit CBS President Nina Tassler. So as far as she’s concerned, you’ll all be delighted to know that Moonlight O’Loughlin is coming back, or you know, not leaving CBS, and you’ll all tune in when he’ll be back on CSI: San Diego or whatever that new show will be called.
I have a strong feeling that’s not really the case, but facts remains the same : according to Hollywood Reporterthe Australian actor signed a one-year talent holding deal with the network, sister studio CBS Paramount TV and ABC Studios.
According to this new deal, O’Loughlin is set to star in a new series project for CBS that has yet to be determined. The project will be developed by TV producer Mark Gordon, whose ABC Studio-based company is behind such series as ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, Lifetime’s Army Wives or more importantly CBS’ Criminal Minds. Since we’re talking CBS here, this new series should probably be some kind of CSI spinoff or something, unless they intend to cancel the show after a few episodes of course…
He was a P.I., he’ll be a cop of some sort, same difference, I’m sure no one will even notice it’s another show. Except if you have a brain you’re not Mrs Tassler…
If you can’t wait for the return of Michael and his brother as they try to get out (or in?) some prison, again, here’s a little something to wait. Be aware though, if you don’t want no spoilers, don’t watch the video, and don’t even check out the pictures…
I have no idea what the new season will look like, but it looks to me nothing like what Prison Break used to be… and I don’t mean that in a good way, obviously. I mean “the gadget guy” ? Seriously ? What is this, a joke… it’s a joke, right?
Jesus, this network is really not exciting at all. I’m not sure what it is they are trying to accomplish at CBS, become the most-watched network again, get more young viewers, I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t working for me. Like, at all.
The Eye is already filled with (almost) nothing but cop-dramas all over the place, with dozens of CSI’s and then plenty of other cop shows, with or without a “twist”, so you could think maybe they have enough of it already, especially when it’s been going on for so long, you’d think maybe they’d want to try new things, pull out the creativity card and try new things, but alas, no.
Well, truth be told sometimes it looks like they do, but whenever they put such a show on the air, and regardless of its quality, they cancel it within the year. It’s like they wanna look like they’re trying, but all they really care about, are cop shows…
…Fox! I don’t like all the shows we see here - by the way is it me or does that new series with Jerry O’Connell, Do Not Disturb, look awfully bad ? - but Fox does have a lot of shows I do watch and am excited about, and unlike others they sure know how to promote them! Finally a good promo.
Well, it says NBC but I guess it should read Heroes…
Good news for Chuck fans though, seems NBC wants this show to be a hit and is willing to promote it. Apart from that, if you don’t care for Heroes I guess you’re screwed! God I hate NBC…
Seriously, I don’t like it, except maybe for the Pushing Daisies part it just looks (and sounds) pretty awful, that song is annoying as Hell to me, and is it me or is there some ongoing annoying sound all he way through, like the ship is drowning or something…
Because it worked so well last season, I guess. I mean, who didn’t love the amazing performances of Britney Spears, Mandy Moore and other Enrique Iglesias last season, right ? Right ? *sigh*
Seriously, this is a huge load of BS if you ask me. I am not opposed to stunt casting per-se, and I’m sure that when done well and not coming from some starving for attention celebrity or the network trying to get a few more viewers in regardless of whether or not it might actually hurt the show in the long run, it can turn out great.
For proof of that, just see last season’s appearances by the lovely Sarah Chalke ! Perfect in the role, delightful, hilarious, great chemistry with other cast members, starting with Josh Radnor (Ted), it was simply awesome.
It’s nothing new to see people using the Internet, blogs, YouTube, all kinds of things to promote a new movie or a TV show. Viral marketing is a very strong and widely used technique nowadays, but sometimes it always happen, things get pushed just one bit too far.
The latest example of such of a thing happened very recently, when The Office star Rainn Wilson went crazy and kidnapped the adorable Jenna Fischer to ensure that everyone would go and see his new movie…
From Jenna’s MySpace :
A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM JENNA’S “FRIEND”, RAINN WILSON
Hey there Jenna’s MySpacers!
My name is Rainn Wilson and I’ve kidnapped the lovely Jenna, put her, bound, in the trunk of my firebird and logged onto her MySpace to send out this bulletin.
To free America’s sweetheart, Pam Beesly, one half of the magic which is ‘Jam’, you must attend my new movie, ‘The Rocker’, which opens August 20th.
As soon as the film grosses 18.7 Mil, she will be released and given a peach smoothie.
