(S02E01) Here’s another series that will be returning to our screen in a few weeks. The sophomore season of Californication might only premiere by the end of September but I got the occasion to watch the season premiere already, and despite my dislike of the first season I sure wasn’t going to pass on the occasion. While the show as been mostly heard of recently in the headlines, as star David Duchovny is being treated for a sex addiction, ironically enough, let’s only focus on Hank and those in his life.
Last season, after a pilot episode that I felt was pretty good and promising, the show went downhill and it never really did it for me, only to end with one of the crappiest finale ever that felt utterly out of character, for the show, for the people involved, for everyone and everything. It almost reminded me of the first season premiere of Heroes in sort ruining-everything-done-before sort of way.
Still, I did watch this new season premiere, and I’m glad I did.

(S03E07) Yes, it’s Sunday and I’m just posting about the latest episode of Psych, I know. As things turned out, I got busy and couldn’t get to my little screen sooner. But now that I have, let’s talk derby!
It went by fast enough that you may not have realized this already, but we’re already soon approaching the mid-season mark here, as next week will be the “mid-season finale” before the show takes its usual little break. Before that, this week we had, finally, something I have been waiting for since the beginning of this season pretty much, the longer I had to wait for it the more I wanted it, and finally, this was the day.

(S04E01-E02) Over the summer I didn’t really think about Bones, because it wasn’t as fun as it should have been, and as the show (usually) is. When thinking about it, it was feelings of sadness and anger that rushed into my brains. And it was all about the same thing, and that disastrous crap they pulled during last season’s finale.
Sadness over the way they treated Zack and assassinated a character surely unlike the rest of us, but oh so intriguing and loved, and of course anger at the writers and creator/showrunner Hart Hanson for coming up with this idea, not pressured by the network or anything, but because, well, I don’t really know why anyone would do that actually, I still don’t.
But because I’m a TVoholic and because this is Bones, I still obviously tuned in for this new two-hour season premiere. Well, sort of a two-hour season premiere…

(S01E01-E02) 90210. Do those numbers mean anything to you ? Yes, no, because I hear that behind the zip code hides an old TV shows which many still have in their hearts, and now it’s been brought to life again by The CW. But I hate to say, they don’t mean nothing to me, those numbers. I did not watch the original 90210 back in the days and so I couldn’t care less about bringing it back to life, just like the the presence of original cast members Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty did absolutely nothing to me.
And as it turns out, I’m sure it did nothing either to the targeted audience for this new series, because - that is my belief at least - if you’re old enough to have watched (and loved) the original series, you’re not who The CW had in mind when they decided to came up with this new version. Which is a little odd, then, to have original cast members on the show, but I guess it’s just to ensure a lot of press mostly.

(S01E01) With all the spotlight being on Prison Break and Gossip Girl, one might have easily forgotten that there was actually a new series doing its big series premiere last night. Yes, TNT had the very first episode of their latest, Raising The Bar, and as far as Nielsen numbers goes it was a hit!
Growing from the 7.2 million of viewers from its lead-in (The Closer), and with no less than 7.7 million viewers watching, this was the best start ever for a cable series - record previously owned that USA’s The 4400 (7.4 million). That’s all good, but the real question that matters is : how many of them will actually be back ? One thing I can tell you is this : I won’t.

(S04E01+E02) The big thing of the night, the thing we were all waiting for, despite being fully aware of the fact that, yes, it would make no sense whatsoever : the Prison Break return! The show that was once great and had a fantastic first season that should probably had remained the only season ever was back for, that’s right, its fourth season !!
Needless to say that much in another Fox’s action-packed hit-drama, 24, if you’re still watching this show you have to agree to let go lots of things like common sense, otherwise that won’t cut it. But the fact and the matter is, despite all of this ridiculousness we have to be willing to take from this show, it’s still fun to watch.

(S02E01) Aw, summer. Time to take a break for the craziness of the daily life and run away to lighter, trouble-less days. Or not. And when it comes to Gossip Girl, it better not be the case. As we were quickly reminded by GG herself, “Sex, lies, and scandal never take a vacation“. So it’s with pleasure that we could finally dive into a new episode of sex, lies and scandal as the new season of Gossip Girl debuted, kicking off the new fall season.
Last time we checked, summer was starting for the Upper East Side kids (and their parents). B was waiting for a C that would never come, as he ran away with some other girl, D and S were breaking up because, well, D is Dan, Little J had her world collapsing, and N was invited to join S in the Hamptons.
So let’s meet with everyone else right back!

(S04E11) We’re getting closer and closer to the end of this latest season of Weeds, the one that was meant to be a fresh new start for everyone, moving away from Little Boxes to a place where they wouldn’t redo the old mistakes they did in the past, once or twice (or more). But of course, as could be expected from Nancy, that was only to do newer, bigger mistakes that could have been avoided as well, but she “decided” otherwise.
And slowly, things are starting to get back at her. Because you can’t go around and not care about anyone, not your friends, not your kids, not your employees, not your family, no one but your latest lover, and then expect them to still deal with you as if you hadn’t changed. Case in point, Shane had been trying to get his mother to behave in both a more respectful of the law way, and also to be more of a mother to him.

(S03E06) I’m running late in my TV watching these days, but I couldn’t have gone for too long without the Friday fun that comes with every episode of Psych. This show has been much fun for quite some time now, but this season something is not like it used to be, hasn’t been ever since it premieres a few weeks ago. It almost looks to me as if they’re trying hard to make it so that no one could “accuse” the show of being formulaic.
So they try to come up with new things, different adventures, anything not to do what could look like what has been done in the past couple of years. While I could appreciate the effort and a fresh flow of creativity is always welcome, to force such a thing week after week might not be the best thing, and I have the feeling that this might actually be hurting the show somewhat.

(S01E07) Finally got to sit and watch the latest offering from Flashpoint. I’ve been pretty pleased with this show so far, and I think this episode did prove a few things that had been established in previous installment of the show. The first one of all, is that it is a really good show. Sure, it looks like another cop drama, and there’s a very good reason for that : it is!
But far from being your usual cop drama as you see so many of them on television, or just on CBS for that matter. Yes it’s about the SRU and they have to deal with crisis and situation that can be extreme, but the show is clearly putting focus on the psychological aspect of things, favoring a more realistic approach, taking time to talk and think things through rather than rushing into big explosions and gunshots. In that way it’s like the anti-24.
