(S05E14) This was the 100th episode of Lost, and with a name obviously referencing what might be the best episode of the series (so far), it was obviously going to be a special treat. But this is still Lost, and you can’t just break away and make an episode that doesn’t resemble the show or ties to whatever is and has been happening on the show and the Island ever since the pilot.
So this episode wasn’t all that special in the end, it was just another really good episode of Lost. It wasn’t a game changer, it wasn’t a new The Constant, but it was another really good episode of a show that’s never been better. And, it came with lots of answers and references to past episodes from this season the the ones before it, making it all the more exciting.

(S04E22) Not all episodes are the same obviously, and they don’t all inspire the same things either. Even two episodes that are both good and enjoyable might have very different effect on you, especially on this show where there isn’t a predefined standard of what a good episode is, how it should end or what should happen during the course of the investigation.
It’s all about the unsub, and with each new personality comes a brand new world, one that our team needs to enter in order to save people, and very different worlds can create completely different episodes, each of them still being pretty awesome. And just because it was great, doesn’t mean it inspire a lot to comment on…

(S01E18) As we’re getting closer and closer to the end of the season, the show also seem to be getting ready to focus more on the whole Pattern thingy. After being heavily mentioned at first we’re now never hearing the word again, but it’s still there (as reminded by our friend the Observer) and the specter of Massive Dynamics and its involvement remains there, always, in the back.
Recent episodes, though, have also made an effort to not dive into full serialization and instead what we got are pretty self-contained stories, even when – as was the case here – there’s a connection to the bigger picture. But we do hear of that bigger picture, and I sure hope they have plans for everything, and ones that do make sense, because some things just bore the Hell outta me right now.

(S02E09) This season of Reaper has been pretty awesome so far, and it had and continues to evolve and goes into direction one might not expect. Also, the old formula of the escaped soul of the week hasn’t been around much, they always found a way not to commit to it, so much that by now you almost expect Sam not to have to chase a soul, or just not to do it for some reason.
Instead we have some other stories to focus on, stories about personal relationships, which may or may not include demons, as well as the ongoing idea Sam has been obsessing about (although not too much) : he wants out, he needs to find a way out of his deal with the Devil. He doesn’t know how, but he’s learned for sure that it was doable, and he won’t stop until he succeeds — well, you know, or dies/gets sent to Hell.

(S01E20) Yesterday it was Castle and today it is The Mentalist. Both shows share obvious similarities, starting with that they each have a crime to be solved at the center of their episodes each week, but that’s not really the reason we tune in and watch the show. The reason we do, is to see the main characters - here Patrick Jane – work their magic and have fun doing what they do, all the while solving that crime of course.
But if in both cases the solving of the crime isn’t really the most interesting part of the episode or even the reason we watch the show in the first place, it still matters of course. What does matter, is that it doesn’t suck, that it’s not completely boring and not making any sense, it needs at least that much not to spoil the whole fun. Unfortunately, this episode suffered from that same weakness/problem as did Castle on Monday…

Shows: The Mentalist

(S01E08) I always end up my TV watching of Mondays night with this show, because I like it very much, and even though it airs late it could/should be up earlier on : it’s all about fun. The show and its characters are fun (for the most part) and I just enjoy watching them have fun with one another (all the while solving the latest crime of the week, obviously).
It’s a lot of fun, Fillion and Katic are both excellent and have great chemistry, so I just have a good time watching the show. Again this week, despite all the flaws of the episode, I enjoyed this hour, and seeing the two of them having fun poking at each other all along. That being said, it would be a great thing if they tried and actually improve the show…

(S02E22) I didn’t watch this show as soon as I usually do, quite simply because I’ve been disappointed with recent episodes and, frankly, I didn’t expect things to be a lot better this time around, so I didn’t rush into it. Now that I got to watch the episode, I’m glad I did what I did, because it was clearly not a really good episode. It’s weird, because despite all its flaws I still feel like I overall enjoyed it - maybe because I laughed a lot in the end, more on that later – but the reality remains, it wasn’t very good.
Also, boringly predictable. Not just predictable, but when characters seem to act the way they do with only one possible purpose, create some fake drama as fast as possible, it just doesn’t make things any good. In fact, it’s a sign that things are actually bad, not just because there’s fake drama but because it’s so obvious it only exists for the sake of it.
