(S01E03) Something’s wrong with this show. I know many wonder about the premise, the very concept that people would go and buy large amount of money for an active, instead of getting a real deal, but I don’t really have a problem with that. They’ve given a couple of possible explanations for that, including one this week, and I can just go and accept that, not looking much more into it. If only, it’s human nature to want to have such power & control over other people, and that works both from the dollhouse’s bosses as well as the rich people paying for it.
My problem lies with the show itself. I watched this episode, and while there finally clearly was that Whedon touch (and even though he didn’t sign this episode, his brother did so it remains a Whedon, technically) with great humor, many times I felt like watching a Fox show more than a Whedon show, by that I mean one made to comply by the standard of the network, more than the original artistic vision from the creative minds.

(S02E16) Okay, so I’m guessing this is exactly the kind episode that will be adored (”I loved it: so awesome!”) or hated (”Are you kidding me?? Pointless & boring…”) by the fans. This episode is exactly what the show is, it symbolizes perfectly what this show is, how it’s being constructed and why it is different that most other shows out there.
If you’re more of a fan of the Jack Bauer style, with SUV chases and explosions every two hours, that might not be the sort of things you were looking (but rejoice, a movie is coming up, filled with too many explosions I’m sure!). But if you like a show that is turning to the psychological exploration of its characters, as has been something this show loves to do, then it was another story.

(S01E15) Last week we met with Felix, FBI agent who asked and joined the team that was only made of Young and, of course, Hood. While I liked his part in that episode, I wasn’t exactly sure that keeping him around would be such a good idea, as it might change the dynamic of the show which, I thought, didn’t need to be changed. This week we had the second episode with Felix, and his first time actually part of the team.
So far, it didn’t really change much. He doesn’t have much to do besides filling in the holes here and there, and do pretty much what Rachel would usually get done through a phone call, or what would be asked to the local authorities. And that might be his only purpose, not to ever really be a part of the team per-se, but simply to allow for Rachel & Hood to do what they do, always together as she’s there to watch over him first, while some rather boring gathering of information or bureaucratic task are being handed over to him.

(S03E12) Pretty much all season long, I’ve been wishing for the show to let the personal lives of Jack & Liz on the side and focus things back on TGS and the behind the scenes at NBC, like in the good old days. And while this episode didn’t entirely do that, it was certainly less about their love lives and more work oriented than most (any?) of the episode this season.
I’m not saying that explains it all, but I’m sure it played a big part into why this episode worked so well, and why I liked it so much. Because I really did, I enjoyed the whole half-hour from beginning to end, it felt like only a couple of minutes at most, and I feel that might have been the best episode of the season so far. And in pure 30 Rock fashion, it was filled with great lines!

(S01E12) In the past I said that I wouldn’t want this show to be nothing but a simple cop-procedural set in 1973, and that should it be the case, I wouldn’t see any interest in it and stop watching. Because, at least as far as I’m concerned, it shouldn’t be about the obligatory cases of the week Sam gets to work on each time, this show should be about his condition, what is it that is happening to him, and how could he go back.
But here’s the thing : just because you add a little Mars rover fly out of someone’s eye, or turn on a TV that only Sam can see, with pictures from 2008 or people addressing him directly, that doesn’t mean this isn’t just a cop-procedural like so many others. Or, that doesn’t make it any interesting, not if you just throw this in to create a fake sense of mystery. Maye someone should tip in the writers about all this, because clearly they’re not aware of it.

(S02E16) I have, in the past, talked about the way the show changed between its first season and this one. I’ve done that a few times, and just last week again there was some talk about just that. So this week, let’s do that again! Because something weird happened with this episode, something that – in a way – reminded me of an old episode from the famous first and awesome season, A Civil War.
That episode was flawed, but overall I liked it. My biggest issue with it, was that at the heart of the case was some stupid plot about playing a video game to access hidden spreadsheets or some BS like that. But other than that, what came around it, that still worked, that was still Life, and I loved it. With this episode, it was almost the opposite.

(S05E07) As hinted buy the title of this episode, after looking at how the O6 came to the decision of going back to the Island – or, at least, how they all eventually got on another plane together – this week we had a look at what one Jeremy Bentham did during his time on the mainland, and how he tried to convince everyone to come back to the Island.
And if we knew most of what actually took place, because it’s been talked about in past episodes by many of the other player, this still managed to be a really good episode, and a major reason for that has to fall back on the shoulder of the amazing Terry O’Quinn, once again brilliant all along. There’s no question that he can convey emotions like no other, and that was probably this season’s episode that will get him an award or two.

(S04E16) After sort of focusing on Rossi last week, something that had already been done and, quite frankly, isn’t of much interest, we moved on to a much more interesting topic this week, focusing on the real leader of the BAU. But if he might have stole the show a little, the entire team was still involved and everyone had a part to play, even a little one.
Including Rossi, even though I have to admit that, at some point during this episode, I almost wondered where it was, or how was it that it wasn’t around. Of course as soon as I asked myself that, he was the next one to say something, but all that to say, while everyone had something to do I’m glad writers are stopping with all the Rossi talk, and going back to the “real” team (leader).
