* Tonight marks the debut of fall season! Well, maybe not, but at least one new series is coming back : season two of Greek debuts at 9.00 on ABC Family !
* And of course on Sci-Fi there’s still a new episode of Eureka
(S04E11) We’re getting closer and closer to the end of this latest season of Weeds, the one that was meant to be a fresh new start for everyone, moving away from Little Boxes to a place where they wouldn’t redo the old mistakes they did in the past, once or twice (or more). But of course, as could be expected from Nancy, that was only to do newer, bigger mistakes that could have been avoided as well, but she “decided” otherwise.
And slowly, things are starting to get back at her. Because you can’t go around and not care about anyone, not your friends, not your kids, not your employees, not your family, no one but your latest lover, and then expect them to still deal with you as if you hadn’t changed. Case in point, Shane had been trying to get his mother to behave in both a more respectful of the law way, and also to be more of a mother to him.
The first season of Canadian-imported series Flashpointis still airing on CBS, and while The Eye hasn’t committed to anything beyond this first season, its hometown broadcaster CTV has already renewed the show for a second season !
The first Canadian series to air in primetime on a U.S. network in over a decade has been doing pretty well both in Canada, averaging 1.7 million viewers on CTV since its debut mid-July, and in the U.S. with a solid 7+ million viewers audience on average every week on CBS, all the while NBC had the Olympics. So it seems very likely that the second season of the show will find its way to CBS as well.
As you probably know, The CW decided to give up on trying to come up with anything for Sunday nights, and instead sold its airtime to Media Rights Capital, who will be in charge of producing the shows for that night.
So, are you wondering what you will find on The CW every Sunday night, starting September 21st ? Well, wonder no more ! Here’s a little preview for In Harm’s Way, Valentine and Easy Money, presented by no other than Bob Saget from Surviving Suburbia.
I don’t know about you, but so far I’m not really excited by any of this…
There’s a reason you don’t hear about a lot of new series coming this fall on ABC : there are not. (Well, sure there are some, like Life On Mars, but they mostly only renewed series.)
It’s not that they didn’t want to try out new shows, it’s that with the strike and all, ABC delayed its development so that most of the new scripted series would go midseason. Some pilots were shot in July, and today ABC finally started making some decisions.
As previously reported, Castle has been picked up. Along with it, a few other shows have been picked up as well.
After Pushing Daisies, here is another one of those “starter kits” made by ABC to get everyone ready to dive into the new seasons of their returning series who didn’t really get to do a full season last year, yet made enough of an impression to win our hearts.
This time, it’s Eli Stone. The good news is, the show will be back starting Tuesday, October 14th at 10.00 on ABC. The bad news, besides that we have to wait that long, is that Maggie is still around…
The facts were these, last season many new shows could not grow into a full season because of a terrible and unfortunate strike. And now, as the strike is behind us and the end of summer (already) approaches, it’s time to think of those returning series.
After Fox and their So Fresh campaign, time for ABC to take the promo cards out, and for their returning series what best than some nice little “starter kits” allowing anyone who maybe have forgotten about missed the shows to quickly get a taste of it, and either know enough to dive into a new season, or need to get their hands on the DVDs of the first season.
And when it comes to Pushing Daisies, you really should go for the second option, because it’s a really lovely show :
Sophomore season of Pushing Daisies premieres on Wednesday, October 1st at 8.00 on ABC.
If you can’t have enough of Dr Horrible’s nemesis, you’ll be happy to know that Nathan “the hammer is my penis” Fillion is heading back to television !
Confirmed by Kristin Dos Santos, ABC just picked up the pilot for new series Castle, starring everyone’s favorite Captain as lead Nick Castle, a role that seems to fit him perfectly I’d say — from the press release:
Cross a mystery novelist with a rock star and you would get Nick Castle. He’s got Jagger’s swagger and James Bond’s way with the ladies.
Although the handsome writer seems to have everything — fame, fans, and females — he’s grown weary of it all. In fact, he’s just killed off the legendary character who’s sold millions of books for him. But when a real-world copycat murderer starts staging murder scenes from Nick’s novels and NYPD Detective Beckett asks him for help, Nick feels the old blood pumping in his veins again. Is it the thrill of the chase — or the fact that Beckett is a strikingly beautiful woman?
When Nick’s freewheeler detective style clashes with Beckett’s conservative approach, the sparks certainly fly—leading to both danger and a hint of romance. Keeping him grounded are his washed-up Broadway diva mother and his quick-witted teenage daughter; his poker playing buddies James Patterson, Sue Grafton, and Stephen King; and his long-suffering ex-wife Gina, who also happens to be his editor.
That’s no mistake : Fox will be streaming the two-hour series premiere of J.J. Abrams’ new series Fringe (which airs on September 9th at 8.00) as well as the second season premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (which airs on September 8th at 8.00) for free on their very own website, the same days they air on Fox !
Once again Fox continues to show that it is now being the most exciting network around, both in terms of what series it airs and how it promotes said shows. And while others like The CW are still very much old school and try to go against the flow, for instance last season they decided not to put the last episodes of Gossip Girl online, hoping that would bring more viewers to the TV - which it obviously didn’t do (so, of course, episodes will be back online next season), Fox is going in the right way.
Of course, as you can imagine, there’s a catch : you’ll have to be on a US college campus to have access.
