Watch Dr Horrible now for free while you still can!

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along BlogEver heard of the greatest musical of all time ? Well, I’m not really sure that’s how people refer to Joss Whedon’s Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, but that sure might be the case. That little thing is just perfect, so much that when it’s been revealed at Comic Con that there would be another part coming, though nothing would be said about it so far, I wasn’t sure I liked that idea.

The way it ended was about perfect, in a pure Whedon style, I loved it (despite the tragic turn) and I feel it was not only the way it was supposed to go, the only way it should have gone, but also that it was a perfect ending after which nothing should come. I’m not really sure adding another act wouldn’t “lower” the power of what we have now…

In Plain Sight: Good Cop Bad Cop

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | July 28, 2008

In Plain Sight(S01E09) Last week I wasn’t too happy with this show, because after a pretty great episode, and given how each episode had a tendency to be better than the last, I guess it’s fair to day we might have had some expectations that clearly weren’t met. The show has improved from its debut, it’s gotten better, but last week it wasn’t at his best.

So it’s a great thing to see that this week it got better, and while there are still flaws - and this episode had quite a few things that felt a bit off, really - at least it was back to a better level. This was another episode that, despite everything, I really enjoyed. I had a good time and I think that this is the kind of episode we might want to see each week from this show, only with less flaws/non-sense maybe.

Comic-Con: Something Horrible, and NBC does something right…

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | July 28, 2008

ComicConMore than we’d like to, NBC screw things up pretty badly, or worse. But occasionally they do something right, and when it happens it should be noted. If, like me or so many people out there, you didn’t get a chance to go to Comic Con, you might be frustrated to read about all the great things missed. Sure, there are great reports about the different panels, but nothing is like being there.

But what about videos of the panel ? It’s not the same, but you get it all, audio and video, so it’s he next best thing. And NBC put online quite a few panels available for free and without any restrictions, so whether or not you’re in the US feel free to enjoy the panels of The Office, Chuck, Heroes, Kings or Knight Rider !

Psych: Murder? …Anyone? …Anyone? …Bueller?

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | July 26, 2008

Psych(S03E02) The joy of Fridays in the summer, and a new episode of Psych, filled with its usual goods of pineapple, retro-references and hilarious jokes all along. After a good season premiere last week, we were given a somewhat special episode this week. It wasn’t all that different from your usual episode of Psych, at least this time there was an actual crime to solve unlike last week, and yet at the same time it wasn’t your typical episode.

But it didn’t need to be, because it was still everything we’ve come to expect and love from the show. If anything this was a proof that they are not doomed to repeat themselves or limited by some kind of formula to follow week after week, they’re free to break away from it any time they feel like doing so. For this episode they did, and it worked out for the best, really.

Lennie James Finds New Show: Is Jericho Dead, For Good ?

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | July 26, 2008

Lennie JamesWell, I guess this might be a bad news for all the Jericho Rangers out there who still had hopes their recent efforts to find a new home for their favorite show would succeed, because this could be a sign it won’t happen.

Jericho star Lennie James, best know as Robert Hawkins to the fans, just signed for a new mini-series on AMC, the remake of the classic 1960s show The Prisoner. He will play “Number 147″, a resident of the mysterious Village where a former secret agent, now known as “Number 6″ (Jim Caviezel) finds himself imprisoned.

Other actors to have signed on for the project include Ian McKellen (casted as “Number 2″, apparent head of the Village), Golden Globe nominee Ruth Wilson, Hayley Atwell and Jamie Campbell-Bower.

Thursday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | July 25, 2008

NumbersLast night was the first Thursday to see Flashpoint in place of Swingtown, and there’s no question if was a great move for CBS. Sure Fox still won the night, but that’s because they have their games while other networks have, well, reruns.

Moving on to 10.00, where last week Swingtown had 5.3 million viewers and a 1.6 on the demo. newly relocated Flashpoint performed much better, winning the slot with 6.7 million viewers and a 1.7 on the demo. Not only is that better, but Swingtown had a lead-in with 8.8 million viewers whereas this week’s rerun of CSI was only followed by 7.4 million viewers.

Flashpoint: The Element Of Surprise

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | July 25, 2008

Flashpoint(S01E03) It wasn’t the original plan, but due to last-minutes changes that’s the way it went down : A new episode of Flashpoint aired on Thursday, instead of a new Swingtown sent back to Friday nights. And this might be a good thing for CBS, because the show is actually pretty good. I wasn’t particularly impressed by the pilot, and every single episode - including this one - has its flaws, but it’s a very strong show.

Of course, it’s kind of yet another cop-drama, sure, but that doesn’t mean it has to be bad. Plus, unlike all the CSI’s out there, we’re not following cops trying to solve a murder, things are different here, every week there’s a new situation, and so far it’s always been handled very well and I do like it a lot.

Case in point, this was another very strong episode.
