A new study from research firm Magna Global shows that network TV audience has aged out of the demographic advertisers are fond of, and plenty of reports are already commenting on how the TV audience is getting older, stating that, for the first time, the average live median age for the five broadcast networks combined is now 50.
It used to be that CBS was, by far, the oldest of all networks, with a median age above 50. But now, ABC (50) and NBC (49) are getting closer and closer to The Eye (54), and even Fox is reaching up as well, with a median age of 44, while the median age of the US population in households is still around 38.
But while everyone look at those numbers and think that TV viewers are getting older by the minute, I can’t help myself but wonder… are they ?

Here’s a pretty interesting project, let’s hope it gets done.
Executive producers of popular hit TV series Lost and Heroes, Jesse Alexander is teaming up with Matt Mason, author of the great book The Pirate’s Dilemma’, to work on a new TV-show about piracy. The show will be based on Matt’s book, and will show how important pirates are for today’s society, how what they do is actually good for society, and if dealt with accordingly, can be the source of great innovative resources for our future.
“We are trying to get this made into a 13-part TV show.” Matt Mason recently told TorrentFreak.
Yes, a TV show about why piracy (in our TV land, think “illegal downloading”) is a good thing, and how it could help the industry making money. Sounds intriguing ? It’s actually thrilling !

NBC new comedy Kath & Kim, which the network ordered 6 episodes from and put it on its fall schedule even before a pilot was made, as part of their latest “strategy”, has now made its pilot episode, and NBC is now backing things up adding an order for 7 additional episodes, bringing the total order for the new series, starring Molly Shannon and Selma Blair, to 13 episodes.
Of course, that’s still not a full season order, but I guess NBC still needs to make sure what the audience will think of the show, based on an Australian hit. The show is now scheduled to go back into production next month on the remaining episodes.
The show was actually originally picked up to pilot last fall, but then, after casting Shannon and Blair as the two leads, NBC decided to order 6 episodes right away in February, going with their new no-pilot strategy. The show will benefit from a strong lead-in, as it comes in Thursdays at 9.30 right after hit-comedy The Office. The series premiere is scheduled for October 9.

(S01E05) At first, USA new series In Plain sight was described as a show about WITSEC and how a couple of U.S. Marshalls would have to deal with whoever was welcomed into the program. And we’ve had some episodes that were mostly about that side of the job, episodes such as last week’s. But sometimes the show uses WITSEC only as a starting point, a way to introduce some characters into what is a very standard police investigation.
This week, that was about it. I mean sure, it started with some people getting into the witness protection program, and yes there was that tiny bit of specificity that made the whole situation slightly different than what you normally have when a couple joins, and it looked like that was part of what the episode was going to be about and focus on.

Good news for all Office fans around : by the end of last season, and the departure of Toby, we all had a nice unexpected surprise in finding who his replacement was : Holly Flax (Amy Ryan). At first hated by Michael because she was the “new Toby”, and therefore as anyone from human resources had to be some kind of hateful, evil monster, she turned out to be a really nice woman, who likes Michael and is still convinced that Kevin is “slow”, and I sure hope that stays on for some time.
Anyways, introduced as a nice new character and a potential love interest for Michael - and here’s to hoping that crap about his child that isn’t really his child at all in way actually won’t become too much of a mess - The Wire star Amy Ryan will return to the hit-comedy next season !

If you watch Lost, you know it’s not really an easy show. It’s quite complicated, and while this last season might have not been shy on answers, the amount of questions and mysteries remains overwhelming, and about every fan of the show can’t help but trying to understand it, analyzing, theorizing and arguing, only to come down to the same conclusion, always : we have no idea what’s really going on.
Of course, that’s part of the beauty of this show and why we love it so much, but sometimes it begs the questions : Why is Lost so damn complicated ??
Even if you never really asked yourself about this one, you might still wanna check out this fan-made video about Lost, because it’s quite good and pretty funny. There’s one part in particular, that for some reason had me laughing out loud each and every time…

Jesus, I can’t believe this shit !!
Oh yeah, let me tell you what’s going on : while everyone wonders whether or not people, namely AFTRA, SAG, AMPTP and others would be crazy enough - and stupid enough - to let another strike happen, the WGA has been acting completely crazy on its own, back in Washington DC.
According to Nikki Finke, the WGA is worried about product placement and the fact that viewers might not be aware of what’s going on. Now I would think that by now everybody knows that last season Heroes were trying to sell cars, but I’ll admit it isn’t always as obvious as to see Tina Fey looking into the camera and ask, “Can we have our money now ?” after praising some phone services for 5 minutes with co-star Alec Baldwin.
Still, nothing can justify what they want, which is nothing less than “real-time disclosure”, aka they want to see a crawl at the bottom of the screen when product placement is happening in a scene, to let viewers know !!

Recently Steve Carell appeared in Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and apparently he’s been doing a lot of promo, interviews and such, something about a movie he’s in, possibly called Get Smart or something, anyways it seems he’s been talking and talking and talking some more, so much that he doesn’t have anything to say at this point.
When do you do when you find yourself in such a situation ? Well, there’s no clear rule, but this time they simply switch place, putting Steve Carell in the role of Jimmy Kimmel, talk show host, while Kimmel took the part of the guest, movie star Steve Carell.
Hilarity ensues :
