We had the schedule already, but not the dates. Now we do, as NBC revealed the premiere dates for its fall schedule (plus some tweaks in said schedule). Eager to know when your favorite (NBC) show will be back, it’s all here !
* Heroes will be back in a three-hour block, no less! Monday, September 22nd the Heroes night will start with an hour-long compilation show, so uninteresting boring crap, and then the two-hour season premiere. I’m not sure it’ll be any better, but at least it’ll be new, right?
* The new season of Chuck will premiere on Monday, September 29th, and the same night will also see the series premiere of My Own Worst Enemy
* Law & Order: SVU will start its new season Tuesday, September 23rd
* On Wednesday, September 24th you’ll have the series premiere of Knight Rider, as well as the season premiere of Lipstick Jungle

Last week was the first part of the season finale of Lost, but we still have to wait one more week before we get to see the two final hours of this incredible season.
Meanwhile, we’re left doing exactly what we do in between episodes : guessing. Watching episodes again, guessing, theorizing, trying to come up with something and expect to be wrong when the time comes, because, let’s face it, with Lost we’re usually more wrong than right. Not that it’s a bad thing, quite the opposite in fact. I have no doubts I will not see coming most of what will actually happen in the next two hours of the season finale, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try. [100% spoiler free, as always.]

Any idea who might have won last night ? Given how ABC had two season finale, including the one from its hit-drama Grey’s Anatomy, while there wasn’t much else on, it’s no surprise to see ABC a clear winner, both in viewers - close to 15 million viewers while no other network reached 9 million - and on the demo - 5.5 while the closest was Fox’s 3.4
At 8.00 ABC wasn’t the most-watched network though, as Deal Or No Deal on NBC had 1.5 million more viewers than Ugly Betty’s 8.8 million. Ugly Betty did better on the demo though (2.8 vs 2.5), but wasn’t first either as on Fox the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance had a 3.4 (and 8.6 million viewers).

Well, there’s no mystery about last night : it was the big season finale of American Idol, a two-hour monster hit, and many caved in without a fight. NBC had two hours of Law & Order reruns, ABC had two hours of Lost reruns, and The CW had two hours of Farmer Want A Wife reruns. They didn’t even try, so why care. CBS on the other hand had something, especially a season finale of their own at 9.00 (Criminal Minds)…
You’ve probably been hearing everywhere that Idol was not performing as good as it used to, that it was on the way down, and while it is true, it does not do as well as it used to, if it keeps going down the way it does now, I think it’s fair to say Fox have some pretty good years ahead of them. I mean it lost only 100 000 viewers over last year, and with 30.6 million viewers overnight, I’m sure at Fox they’re all laughing at those calling it the beginning of the end…

(S03E20) So it wasn’t the best of start for this season, loosing Gideon and all, but the show eventually managed to get back on tracks, and though it got hurt again when the strike kicked in, in the end we had an overall good season. I mean some episodes really sucked, let’s face it, but others were simply of the best we ever got from the show so far, no less.
And what’s more important is the final impression we’re left with, as the season ends. Because doing a good season and ending with a shitty finale is a way to ruin the entire season, if not series. Really, just see the first season of Heroes. Luckily, this wasn’t the case here as everyone in Criminal Minds did what they do best for the last time this season, delivering a great episode and leaving us hanging and wanting more, now!

* Also at 10.00 but on CBS, it’s the season finale for CSI: New-York
* And NBC also has one, the last episode of this season for Law & Order

Get ready for a new battle of numbers !
It’s not new that you can always look at numbers differently and make them say whatever you want, and I’m sure Fox and CBS won’t be using the same numbers soon. As CBS is already reporting to have won the May Sweeps, which they won. It’s not a surprise really, despite not really going for the most exciting show out there, CBS have some of the strongest performer.
A perfect illustration is how they have the number one scripted show for five different nights of the week : CSI: Miami on Mondays, NCIS on Tuesdays, Criminal Minds on Wednesdays, CSI on Thursdays, and Numb3rs on Fridays. Winning almost every night, including the most competitive ones (except for Sundays, going to ABC’s Desperate Housewives), it’s no surprise they do very well.

Last night was a good night for ABC. Of course was won the night both in viewers and on the demo with their latest installment of American Idol, but Dancing With The Stars did pretty will, better than usual, especially on the demo, bringing the Alphabet to the second place.
At 8.00 of course Idol was way ahead of any competition, with more than 10 million more viewers over the season finale of NCIS (26.1 vs 15.0 million), while crushing it on the demo (9.7 vs 3.0) The rest was only reruns or close, so not much to say/care about.

Shows: NCIS, Reaper, Shark
By fred | May 21, 2008
(S01E18) Another one bites the dust. Of course I’m not talking about Reaper, just another escaped soul. Because as we now now, The CW has indeed renewed this great little show for a second season. Because they’re not that bright they only went with a mid-season plan, ordering only 13 episodes, but it could have been a lot worse so I won’t complain. In fact, I’m incredibly happy that this was only a season finale, because the show is great, has even been getter better & better with time, and from what we can see from where we stand, next season is shaping up to be a really good one as well.
We still had many plots open, the very first of which being Tony and his demon buddies finding out about Sam’s secret, a secret even he didn’t know about : the real identity of his father. Like most of us have for a little while now, they thought Sam was no other than the son of the Devil himself !
