The Big Bang Theory: The Shiksa Indeterminancy

The Big Bang Theory(S01E15) There’s a thing about The Big Bang Theory, it’s a show that does rely on clichés and stereotypes quite a lot. I won’t say it’s a good thing, cause clearly it isn’t, but it usually isn’t a bad thing either because they somehow found a way to make it work, to make us laugh, without really caring that a few things are a bit of a cliché here and there.

And it’s all to the credit of the show to succeed at that. But, with that said, that doesn’t mean that no matter what they do, they’ll actually succeed at making us forget, or at least not care, about how common it is. Case in point, in this episode they didn’t always managed to achieve that.

Tonight On TV

* Another big Monday nigh ahead of us…

* Once again the CBS comedy night is on, starring at 8.00 with a new The Big Bang Theory

* While on Fox there’s a new episode of Bones

* The CW has a new episode of Gossip Girl

* And on ABC Family there’s a new Greek

* At 8.30 the comedy continues with a new episode of How I Met Your Mother on CBS. Nope, no Britney yet, thank God! But we’ll see if Ted and Barney talk to each other or what!?

* At 9.00 on CBS, it’s a new Two And A Half Men — special edition, tonight’s episode has been written by writers of… CSI ! So expect to see Charlie, Alan and Jake will in some interrogation room with a Marg Helgenberger lookalike, and even a cameo by CSI’s very own George Eads. If that doesn’t make you tune in, I guess nothing will. I don’t think I want to tune in, to tell you the truth. And the funny thing is, I’m probably more curious about the CSI episode this Thursday, pinned by Two And A Half Men writers, for some odd reason…

* Moving on, at 9.00 we have also a new One Tree Hill on The CW

* And, of course, a brand new dose of our favorite doctor on Fox, with a new episode of House

* At 9.30 comes in a new episode of Rules Of Engagement on CBS

* While on ABC there’s a new Samantha Who?

* At 10.00 CBS ends its night with CSI: Miami

* And on NBC there’s a new episode of Medium

The Strike Might Help A Few Shows…

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | May 5, 2008

The writers’ strike has had an impact on television and many shows. Yes, all main hits like CSI, Grey’s Anatomy or House are back and doing well, but they’re just not doing as well as they used to a few months ago, before that whole mess. It could be the weather, for some it could be the new time slots, but chances are the strike had a part to play in this, whether it just drove people away from TV, and allowed them to realize they didn’t actually miss that show they used to watch religiously and thought they couldn’t live without.

But according to The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd, it might be a win for some shows, because since even the big hits don’t do as well as before, networks might be inclined to give second chances to more shows than they would have otherwise. So, is your favorite show on the list of the shows on the bubble likely to be renewed, or are you still screwed ?

Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof on Jimmy Kimmel

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | May 5, 2008

LostRecently Lost masterminds Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof came by to chat with Jimmy Kimmel, an actual fan of the show (And I do mean that the guy actually watches and likes the show, he doesn’t just pretend to because they’re here).

It was a nice chat and not so much was revealed, obviously, they joked a lot, although they did said a couple of things that might be relevant and which could definitely fall under the spoilers category, so if you really don’t want to hear about any spoiler to enjoy a completely fresh experience of the show, you might want to bookmark this for later. If you feel like taking the risk, the video if after the jump.

Sunday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | May 5, 2008

So, Sunday night went by pretty much exactly as last week, despite a few little changes here and there. ABC was a clear winner of the night, both in total viewers as well as on the demo, all that with Desperate Housewives most-watched program of the night. Nothing you couldn’t have seen coming.

At 8.00 things were a bit different for CBS, having the season finale of Cold Case one hour earlier than the show usually comes in. It didn’t make much difference when it comes to viewers, but the show performed quite less on the demo (2.4 vs 2.7 last week). Meanwhile on ABC, Extreme Makeover only lost 500 000 viewers compared to last week, yet performed better on the demo pulling out a 4.1 this week (3.9 last week)

Family Guy: Long John Peter

Family Guy(S06E12) First things first, I’m not exactly sure what this was. Some say it was the season finale, while others only refer to it as a mid-season finale. So I’ll be honest, I’m not sure. What is sure is that 22 episodes were originally ordered, and though more than 12 had been written this was the last episode to be produced, and it will be the last one we get in a while.

Whether the remaining episodes will be moved to season 7, or be part of the second half of the current season six remains a bit unclear, though it seems that this season is over, and the remaining episodes from this production cycle will be used as first episodes of the next season. But either way this was a finale, and the last episode of Family Guy we’ll get to see in a while. And season or mid-season finale, the important thing in the end is that it was a good episode, one that I really enjoyed and that was pretty funny, so we’re all good.

ABC Chops Down Men In Trees

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | May 5, 2008

Well, fears of Men In Trees‘ fans are becoming a reality on this Monday morning, as Men In Trees series creator Jenny Bicks confirmed to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello that the show has ben canceled !

Of course, given the way ABC treated the show recently, it’s not a surprise to find out that (a) the show had a hard time keeping it’s audience around, and (b) the network didn’t really care that much about it.

As Bicks said, “I wish the show had not been moved six times and put onto two long hiatuses. No show could survive that. I am really proud of the work we did on Men In Trees. A huge thank you to our supportive fans.

No More Luthors In Smallville : Rosenbaum is out

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | May 5, 2008

Michael RosenbaumRumors have been floating around for a while now, and recently things started top shape out, and after Kristin Kreuk the news is now official for Michael Rosenbaum as well : he won’t be part of the next (and likely to be last) season of Smallville !

Rosenbaum has been announcing this would be his last season on the show for a while now, and the news has now been officially confirmed. Of course the network is already trying to come up with new villains for the show, now that both Luthors are gone, but it might be fair to say that this will be the last season of the show, and maybe a poor one.

Lindsay Lohan to appear on Ugly Betty

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | May 5, 2008

Lindsay LohanAfter Britney, Hollywood’s second favorite train wreck is set to appear on another TV show. First it was CBS and How I Met Your Mother who put Britney Spears on the air, and since that generated a nice ratings bump those suckers are going to do it again (on CBS May 12).

Meanwhile it gave “ideas” to ABC, who’s now going to do the same, casting the other beloved train wreck to do a guest appearance on Ugly Betty.

To be fair, the idea of having Lindsay Lohan guest-star on Ugly Betty was first heard back in November, but because of Linday’s many trips to rehab the WGA strike it didn’t happen. But it will, and it will last !
