Tuesday’s Numbers

American Idol was on last night, and as always that was enough to make Fox winner of the night, both in total viewers and on the demo. Fox was really ahead of everyone, and while CBS managed to averaged over 10 million viewers, Fox still had 7.6 million more viewers. Not to mention the demo, where ABC and CBS and NBC all together don’t even beat Fox and their 7.1 !

At 8.00 you know where 24.4 million people had their eyes on, while NCIS did about the same as last week, holding 14.6 million viewers and a 3.0 on the demo. Other than that, nothing really worth talking about…

Reaper: Coming To Grips

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | April 30, 2008

Reaper(S01E15) It’s a known fact now that Reaper still hasn’t been renewed for a second season by The CW, and that even if it is actually not doing bad, if they recognize it is a show of quality, and if it has been better than Gossip Girl, who’s already got its second season order. But [insert BS here regarding female demo and whatnot], and so far the show’s fate is still uncertain.

It was always said that those new post-strike episodes might play a part in the process to decide whether to renew the show or not, and I think that anyone who actually watches the show will agree : given those episodes, it’s a definite renewal. Last week I was already stating how the episode was really good, but after watching this one I think we have a winner : this was the best episode of the show so far !

Tonight On TV

* Quite a few things on this Tuesday, yet again not so much that I watch…

* At 8.00 on ABC there’s a new According To Jim

* While on CBS it’s a new NCIS

* Also, The CW has a new episode of Beauty And The Geek which rumor has it may be in its last season, and that can only make sense…

* At 9.00 some good stuff, since the Devil is back on The CW for a new Reaper. Great show, really, more people should watch it, and The CW should stop being stupid and renew it already!

* Also at 9.00 there’s a new episode of Shark on CBS. I don’t know, I guess people watch this show for some reason…

* At 10.00 on ABC it’s the return of Women’s Murder Club

* On NBC it’s time for a new Law & Order: SVU

* And on FX, due to the strike, it’s already the season finale for The Riches !

Gossip Girl: Desperately Seeking Serena

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | April 29, 2008

Gossip Girl(S01E15) This it the time of the week for gossips. Last week on Gossip Girl, it was all about a new character, a new character we only heard of, by the end. It looked like it would really be something, when after all those years another girl returned to the Upper East Side, after S before her, it was now time for G to come back. We didn’t know much abut her, but she was from Serena’s past so that was promise enough.

Still, it’s easy for a show to create lots of hype and build up to something gigantic, but when it comes down to actually delivering, it’s not always there. This was the big week for Gossip Girl, as we got to finally meet with Georgina. I say “finally”, but we’ve not really been expecting her for that long, about a week ago no one knew of her…

Monday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | April 29, 2008

A typical Monday night as they’ll be for a few more weeks now. ABC won the night in total viewers, thanks to Dancing With The Stars, while Fox had no trouble winning the demo thanks to the great doctor. All networks were able to average over 10 million viewers, except for The CW of course, and NBC with its crappy lineup.

At 8.00 Dancing With The Stars was the only program to go over 10 million viewers, with 17.4 million. The ratings for Deal Or No Deal are for the full two-hour show, so while it looked good here (9.9 million), I’m sure NBC was actually behind Fox where a new Bones episode did quite good (9.7 million), over 1 million more viewers than last week, and that’s the House effect.

House: No More Mr. Nice Guy

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | April 29, 2008

House(S04E13) It’s been way too long. Of course, we were help with the return of other shows in the mean time, and we could obsess over Lost, that always takes some time, but regardless it’s been way too long since we hadn’t had the pleasure of welcoming America’s favorite doctor on the air. So before everything else, this episode was the first one produced after the strike, it was the first we got to see in a too long time, for that only I think it was great.

Of course, that’s not enough and we need more to actually have a good time watching it. But this is House, and the show was never disappointing, they have a great bunch of characters and they know how to make the most of it. For the big return, they tackle some pretty good questions, and of course we had to deal with the perfect topic for the show, and House : can someone be too nice ?

How I Met Your Mother: The Goat

How I Met Your Mother(S03E17) The end of the season is coming, it’s getting really close and I have to say it adds a bit of excitement to the whole thing. It sure does, especially because while this great show has never had episodes completely independent form everything else, there’s always a timeline and references to past and future stories, amongst other things, lately we’re a roll when it comes to story progression and character development. Well, except for the fact that nothing’s changed when it comes to Lily and Marshall and their recently bought apartment.

But other than that, recent episodes have dealt with many things from the “mythology” of the show and some of the mysteries. Yes, because Lost isn’t the only show with mysteries, a complicated timeline and a mix of flashbacks and flash-forwards, How I Met Your Mother has all of that too, and they too are doing awesomely great these days!

The Big Bang Theory: The Nerdmabelia Scattering

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | April 29, 2008

The Big Bang Theory(S01E14) A new Monday, a new dose of geekiness coming to your screens. I know some people don’t like The Big Bang Theory that much, and I agree it’s not the even greatest sitcom of the night, and it does use classic rules and boring clichés one too many time, but if you’re able to give it a actual chance you’ll realize that this show has something going for it : it is funny, really funny.

That said, ever since it got back after that awful strike finally ended, I’ve always felt that the episodes weren’t all good. It wasn’t bad and it made me laugh most of the time, but there was always something that didn’t work, it wasn’t as good as it used to be last year. And with this episode, I think we can officially announce that this is now over !
