Eli Stone: I Want Your Sex

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 28, 2008

Eli Stone(S01E09) Maybe there was no visions coming from a mysterious Island before it, but Eli Stone was still there, and he still had his visions. I have to say that if at some point I was annoyed with the show, I’m really happy I kept watching because it has really evolved and matured, the show kept improving over time and it’s now been, for the past few weeks, a really fun hour I’m looking forward to each week.

I’ve said it before, but not many shows can say they have actually been able to improve over time, many shows just stick with whatever they have at first and barely change anything over the course of their season, if not entire run. One thing that is really fun with Eli Stone, is that it never stopped and kept doing the same things over and over again, it’s constantly evolving (and improving).

Thursday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 28, 2008

Last night was a new kind of Thursday, the kind where Lost isn’t there anymore. As a result NBC clearly take the night home, both in total viewers and on the demo. NBC was the only network to average over 10 million viewers (11.8 million), and no program on any other network reached 10 million viewers.

As last week it started at 8.00 with a Deal Or No Deal watched by one more million viewers than a week ago, and again it was the only program at that time to have over 10 million viewers (11.2 million). The basketball did good for CBS, at least better than last week, while ABC burned again two episodes of newcomer Miss Guided, which lost close to half a million viewers since last week, and 300 000 between the first and the second episode last night. Not good, but so is the show.

Reaper: Acid Queen

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 28, 2008

Reaper(S01E13) This was the last episode of Reaper to be completed before the strike. And while the show is back into production, new episodes (5 of them) won’t air until April 22. So this was our last dose of Reaper for a while, one more reason for us to enjoy it.

And that shouldn’t be a problem really, because this show is actually really good & fun. I’ve heard people complain about it or say that since the pilot since haven’t been the same, but they have : it’s still pretty fun, the boys are still chasing escaped soul from Hell, the Devil himself still loves to play with Sam, Sock is still the man and makes everything really funny, …

Diane Farr leaving Numb3rs ?!

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 28, 2008

Diane FarrApparently things aren’t looking so good for Numb3rs next season, as female lead Diane Farr has opted not to renew her contract. The CBS show returns with new episodes on April 4, and according to Michael Ausiello Megan Reeves will leave during those six episodes, no word on how she will actually do that though.

Seems that the show somehow fails to secure a female character for their FBI team that will stay long enough on the show. First Sabrina Lloyd left, and Farr took over. And I have to say I do like her character, and I thought that her romance with Peter MacNicol’s Larry was actually a really nice & sweet thing. It was a real shame to see Larry vanish for a large part of the season, as MacNicol for some unexplainable reasons went to venture into the abyss of the awful season of 24, and now that he’s finally back, she is leaving !

Tonight On TV: Reaper, Eli Stone, In Treatment, Smallville, Miss Guided (twice)

Tonight On TV

* This used to be the night all about Lost, and we were supposed to have an uninterrupted season, but somehow the universe course corrected itself and here we are, no Lost. This course correction thing really isn’t working for me…

* Anyways, at 8.00 ABC has two new episodes of Miss Guided, but you’re better off not watching, it’s crap.

* And you have an alternative : on The CW there’s a new Smallville. Believe it or not, despite focusing on product placement first and script second, it’s actually better than Miss Guided.

* At 9.00 finally comes something good : a new Reaper is on The CW ! For info, I believe this is the last episode completed before the strike.

* At 9.30 on HBO comes a new In Treatment. We’re saying goodbye to Jake and Amy this time, so I guess maybe she will join in this time…

* And finally at 10.00 don’t forget to tune in on ABC, because Lost or no Lost, Eli Stone is still there! And it’s a really great, fun show! You don’t want to miss that, right? Plus, there might even be an earthquake this week! (Don’t worry this is no spoiler, it comes just from having watched last episode.)

Prison Break Jumped The Shark, Big Time : Sara Is Coming Back !!

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 27, 2008

Sarah Wayne CalliesOkay so by now you probably all know that Fox renewed Prison Break for a fourth season. As I have said in the past, we all know that this season was a complete mess, and the writers’ strike had nothing to do with it : it sucked long before the strike started.

This season was a mess, but the end wasn’t completely ludicrous and I felt it would work as a series finale. It won’t, a new season is coming, and according to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello the series will return with the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard, and since it’s not April Fools already, it has to be true… Sarah Wayne Callies is coming back as a series regular next season !

In Treatment: Sophie - Week Nine

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 27, 2008

In Treatment(S01E41) There hasn’t been any new episodes of In Treatment so far this week, but it changed last night with the first new one, and the first of the last week. This Friday will be the season finale, but with this show being so unlike anything else, we actually have a bunch a finale, one for each session, we already had two (Alex and Laura - right?) and last night was the finale for Sophie’s sessions.

Needless to say I was pretty excited about it, because those sessions have been my favorite and are, I think, the best ones. I also believe that Sophie was the best of all of Paul’s patients, just like he himself was at his best with her. Going even further with that let’s mention again the young Mia Wasikowska, who’s been nothing but impressive throughout the entire run and was the breakthrough of this show.

Wednesday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 27, 2008

Last night, the most-watched network barely averaged 7 million viewers. Of course, that is without counting Fox, and their latest installment of American Idol, putting the network at a shinning 17 million viewers overnight ! That’s right, Fox had 10 million more viewers than its closest competition.

With that said, it was another night where, besides reruns and unscripted programs, you didn’t had much choice. At 8.00, you had no choice. So Moment Of Truth won the slot, and was the only program - except for Idol of course - to (barely) reach 10 million viewers.

NBC President Jeff Zucker recaps previous episodes of My Name Is Earl for you

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 27, 2008

My Name Is EarlLots of pretty bad guest-casting these days. First, Britney tried to act on How I Met Your Mother and, well, she can’t. By the way, where’s CBS press release announcing the renewal of the show, because at least Britney had HIMYM hit a series high, coming after an episode that had already done pretty well, so just renew it already!

Anyways, meanwhile on NBC it was Paris Hilton who was casted to appear on an episode of My Name Is Earl. Jee, I wonder what show will have Lindsay Lohan on ? Ugly Betty ?

I do like My Name Is Earl, and I was fine with them having Alyssa Milano on. Who needs more? Apparently, they do, they wanted more, so they asked Paris Hilton first, and then they asked no other than Jeff Zucker, president of NBC. Don’t panic, he’s not actually in any episode (Thank God!) but he made the following little video recapping what happened in previous episodes.

Elisha Cuthbert returning to television

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 27, 2008

Elisha CuthbertDon’t worry, this doesn’t involve Kim Bauer. Since her breakthrough as the annoying and “unlucky” daughter as hero Jack Bauer, Elisha Cuthbert had been focusing mostly on movies. She might be heading back to television now, as she has been cast as the female lead in one of the new pilot drama ordered by CBS, Ny-Lon.

Ny-Lon, which stands for “New-York - London”, will focus on the new relationship between Edie (Cuthbert), a New-York literacy teacher/record store clerk, and Michael, a London stock broker, as they embark on a cross-continental romance after a fateful encounter in London. Caterina Scorsone has also been casted as Astrid, Edie’s roommate, a slutty, bohemian rocker, and Johnny Withworth as Luke, Edie’s rocker ex-boyfriend.
