Breaking Bad: Gray Matter

Breaking Bad(S01E05) I’m sure all eyes were on ABC last night, as the 80th Academy Awards took place. But as far as I’m concerned the excitement came from AMC’s latest show, Breaking Bad. After starting with an impressive rhythm and a constant tension, last week we had a “transitional” episode, an episode during things slowed down a little, both Walt and Pinkman retreated to their family and tried to deal with things as they were now.

They had gone through a lot of things, cooked some meth, and didn’t even get a chance to sell some or make any money out of it before it all went downhill. Instead, they had to run, hide, kill two people and make their bodies disappear. Needless to say, taking some time to breathe for a while wasn’t a bad idea.

Jimmy Kimmel is Fucking Ben Affleck

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 25, 2008

Not so long ago, Jimmy Kimmel learned, along with millions of us, that girlfriend Sarah Silverman was fucking Matt Damon. I’m not sure how he took it, but sure as Hell I loved it, the video was absolutely hilarious, in a pure Sarah Silverman way. (Needless to say, if somehow you missed it, go check it out now. If you know it, seeing it again can’t hurt, quite the contrary.)

Well, Jimmy took it bad, but decided to not let this ruin things for him, and he started plotting some nice revenge on his own. And since Matt Damon took something from him, he took something from Damon. Affleck, he took Ben Affleck.

Tonight On TV

* We’re finally here, Sunday, February 24th. We’re here, and the strike is over. Meaning that ABC can be happy, and have The Oscars on as usual, kind of. It starts at 8.00 with the Red Carpet, and around 8.30 for the ceremony. It will last for a few hours, and we’re all very curious to find out how Jon Stewart is going to manage it…

* Meanwhile all other networks go reruns and like, not that they’d have a lot to put on the air anyways.

* Still, at 9.00 HBO has a new episode of The Wire

* And at 10.00 comes the new & pretty awesome AMC series, Breaking Bad. That one is a must-see!

Friday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 24, 2008

There wasn’t really much on Friday, so we’ll go over it quickly. Remember how the Tuesdays used to be so cool on Fox ? Opening with with a new Bones, and then a new House ? Ah, the good times… Friday, Fox only had reruns, but those two shows are so good that it was enough to make Fox the second-most watched network on the night, and a winner on the 18-49 demo ! Let’s also note that House was the most-watched program at 9.00

Meanwhile ABC had a better Friday than last week, with a rerun of Grey’s Anatomy still finishing last at 8.00 but with half a million more viewers, and one hour later 20/20 was on for two hours, and it did petty good. In fact, at 10.00 the Alphabet was the most-watched network, and the second installment of 20/20 was the best performer of the night on the demo, beating House (2.9 vs 2.8) !

As always, all numbers of the night below :

Eli Stone: Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

Eli Stone(S01E04) As always on Thursdays, after Lost, comes in Eli Stone. Eli is a pretty nice guy, and a lawyer, who one day finds out that he’s got a brain aneurysm. There’s nothing no ne can do about it, he will have to live with it - and maybe die because of it. As you can imagine, that’s a pretty tough situation to find yourself in. He had it all, a great job in a big firm, he was making lots of money and was just engaged to another good-looking lawyer, who just happens to be his boss’ daughter.

Then enters the brain tumor. And with it, Eli’s life changes completely and he finds himself having to deal with visions he can’t always explain and never control, visions that some not-really-Chinese new friend seem to think of as a sign from God, yes, he thinks Eli is nothing less than a prophet.

Thursday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 22, 2008

Thursday isn’t usually a good night for Fox, but they can turn any night into a good one just by having American Idol on, as they did last night. As a direct result, Fox won the night both in total viewers and on the 18-49 demo. Easy as that.

With 23.2 million viewers, so almost twice as many viewers as Survivor had on CBS (12.6 million), Idol was leading things at 8.00 there’s no question.

Lost: Eggtown

Lost(S04E04) Holy frigging crap, I love this show! This episode was once again pretty amazing, and it started right away, there was no “Previously on Lost” this time, and honestly I will admit, I kinda missed it. (Usually) I don’t like those “Previously” clips, not for this show but for any show, for every one of them. I just don’t like that, and for Lost things are no different.

Well, only they are. I don’t really care for the actual recap clips, that I don’t like, but there’s one thing I find myself quite fond of, three words I really like to hear. It’s not the words, but the voice, the tone, the way they’re said. Every week I sit down, and when I hear those three word, “Previously, On Lost“, then I know I’m in for another hour of fantastic questions and mind-blowing confusion.

So, yeah, I missed those a little. But I just said them out loud myself, and somehow it worked, I got the same amazing hour I usually get. With me now, make sure to hear it in your head, “Previously…”

Supernatural: Jus In Bello

Supernatural(S03E12) As I said yesterday, this episode was not the season finale, there will be more episodes of Supernatural this season. There will be, but - due to the strike and everything that happened this season - those 4 extra hours won’t come to the air until April 24. So while it was no finale, it still was the last we got to see of the show in a little while.

This is important, because originally this episode wasn’t supposed to come the way it did. If everything had happened without any sort of trouble or strike, this episode would have been episode 11, and episode 12 was last week’s Mystery Spot. But at a time when it wasn’t sure that there would be any more episodes to this season, they decided to switch the order of those two episodes, thinking that this one would work better as a season finale, should it had be to so.

CBS has no idea of what is funny…

We Need Girlfriends

Clearly, they don’t. And I have to say I’m a little pissed right now, because I just read about the latest project CBS invested in.

Following the path opened by NBC during the strike, when they announced that they would air Quarterlife, The Eye recently handed out a script commitment to a new sitcom project, which will be an adaptation of a “web series” called We Need Girlfriends.

I’m not sure why they did, really, because it’s really not funny. And that’s a real problem, you know, for a sitcom. But you’ll be able to see & judge for yourself, there’s a video included.
