Tonight On TV

* At 9.30, like every Friday, Paul goes see his therapist on In Treatment.

* Apart from that, there’s nothing on. I suggest you go watch Lost again, you might catch something you missed the second time around.

Eli Stone: One More Try

Eli Stone(S01E05) So I’m not exactly sure about the plans ABC has in store for this show. Right now it airs after Lost, and this will continue for three more episodes. After that, no more Lost. And when the show will come back, it will be at 10.00 after Grey’s Anatomy. What will happen to Eli Stone after its 8th episode aired, I have no idea.

You know that I don’t like to give up on new series too soon, if only because I hate it when networks do that so I feel I should start by behaving myself and actually give a show a real chance to grow and find its tone & rhythm. And if you’ve read my reviews of this show so far, you might wonder why I’m bringing this up when talking about Eli Stone.

The reason is simple : I just watched this episode.

Thursday’s Numbers

Well, they did it again. Once again Fox had American Idol on, and once again they won the night with it. It seems no once gets bored with it. Every night it’s on, even for the third consecutive night in a row, it gets dozens of millions of viewers, and end up the most-watched program of the night, both in total viewers as well as on the 18-49 demo.

I have to say people do confuse me in their choices, though. There’s not doubt that the current season of Lost is the best one yet, this season is just outstanding, last night’s episode was absolutely amazing, yet it was a season low and for the first time this season Lost did not win its slot. Helped with a stronger lead-in (up 2.7 million viewers), Don’t Forget The Lyrics was up 2.1 million viewers since last week, while Lost had 600 000 viewers less. ABC drama still won the 18-49 demo, though.

Lost: The Constant

Lost(S04E05) Jacob I love this show! Yes I finally seen this new episode, and there’s no question about it : this will be the best season of the show to date. In fact, it already is. And what is so great about Lost and this season, is how they have been able to “reinvent” to show, if not in what it actually is and what happens on the show, nothing needed there, in the way not only things happens about also how the stories are being told.

More than that, writers have now every cards in their hands to create the show and tell the stories they want. They know when it will end, and how long they have to get us there, so they can really plan the entire journey and ensure that we get the most of it, and they’re doing just that.

A simple proof : this episode could have a subtitle that read, simply, “Answers“. Once again we got answers, and we got plenty of them. Once again it focused on nothing but what Lost really is all about, and we had answers in a way we probably never expected to get from this show ! We’d have to be stupid not to realize how great this feels, and how lucky we are, and how awesome this show is.

Breaking: Scrubs might get a finale SEASON, on ABC !!

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 29, 2008

ScrubsAs you all know, this season was supposed to be the very last one for beloved Scrubs. One last season and a series finale were planned, but then came the writers’ strike. Not all episodes could be completed, it became a mess, and then NBC wasn’t so inclined to get them to have a real series finale, despite the obvious love for the show so many fans have.

But that’s NBC, and they can be such morons. And while creator Bill Lawrence was hoping to get about 4 or 5 more episodes ordered to be able to end the series as originally dreamed, it seemed that the Peacock wasn’t really felling it that way. I told you, morons.

And this is when the Alphabet comes in to save us all !!

Lost: Memory Cards ?

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 29, 2008

LostAlright, so let’s come clean : I know it aired for most of you guys, but I still haven’t watched the last episode of Lost (S04E05) yet. I have not, but I will soon there’s no doubt about it. But before that, there’s something I’ve been willing to talk about for a while now, but sadly I’ve been busy with other things and I failed to do so earlier. (Shame on me.)

But I will do now, so let’s talk a little about Eggtown some more. There was an incredible lot of new questions that were brought up during this episode, but I have a feeling that the one I want to talk about now, the one that obsessed me the most, might not be the most “popular” one. No, what haunted me the most, what I was left endlessly wondering about and would like to mention again is not Aaron, it’s not about when the Hell the trial took place, or about those $3.2 million.

No, it’s about Dan & Charlotte, and their little “cards experiment”…

In Treatment: Sophie - Week Five

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 28, 2008

In Treatment(S01E23) So far this week I’ve really been enjoying this show, and for its third installment this week and what will likely be, for me, the last one of the week, I have to say I was pretty excited about it, because I believe that of all of Paul’s patients, Sophie is the most interesting one. Not only that, but those sessions are really unlike any others because, believe it or not, but Paul actually look like he’s a real therapist on Wednesdays.

A good one even. Granted, he’s still dumb enough to let pills around his suicidal patients, which has to be a very stupid idea, but with Sophie he has done a pretty good job so far at creating a relationship and installing trust. On Wednesday Paul looks like a real therapist, and that’s a very appreciable change.

Quarterlife is no more

QuarterlifeWell, sure it was intended to be a drama, but since it failed at that maybe it’ll get a couple of laugh from the latest development : the show has already been canceled !

That’s right, only one episode aired on NBC, at 10.00 this Tuesday, but it did horribly ! With not even 4 million viewers it was not only bad, but according to Reuters it was Peacock’s “worst time-period performance in at least 17 years“, no less! In fact, more recent update numbers announce only 3.1 million viewers for the show !

Now, I knew it was bad and wouldn’t do well, although I didn’t expect it to do so terrible, but I gotta say I’m a little surprised NBC decided to yank it already. I mean, we’re talking about NBC here, don’t you remember for how long they let Bionic Woman on the air ??

Anyways, what’s funny about this if the explanation that creator Herskovitz gave for the failure of the show. Yes, he did blame NBC, but not because they didn’t promote it enough, not because they gave it a bad/dead time slot or anything like what you usually hear in such circumstances. No, instead he basically blamed NBC because, listen to this : they aired the show ! (How dared they!?)

Wednesday’s Numbers

A night quite like the one before : Fox doesn’t need anything else but American Idol to win the night, both in total viewers as well as on the demo. They don’t need anything else, but they do have something on, still. I’m pretty sure it could be anything, and it would get at least over 10 million viewers. Which is what Back To You did once again, with 12.3 million viewers (of close to 30 million of them watching the last half-hour of Idol… bad retention there).

Other than that, at 9.00 there isn’t much to say, except than Law & Order: Criminal Intent performed a little better than last week (8.3 million vs 7.7 million last week), yet lost the second place of the slot to become next to last, because both a rerun of Criminal Minds (up 1.1 million viewers) on CBS and Supernanny (up 2.4 million viewers) on ABC performed (much) better.
