Psych: Lights, Camera… Homicidio

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | January 26, 2008

Psych(S02E13) One thing really cool about this show, besides being actually really fun and making you laugh, is that it somehow managed to avoid the writers’ strike completely, and all of the 16 episodes of the season have been completed and will air as expected. In a world of television where most of our beloved shows are already gone, and some only have one or two episodes left and you need to really pay attention to watch them, or trust your DVR system and watch them later on, given how networks love to “adjust” their schedule quite often, and not to mention the ones coming back with half a season missing, Psych is still there, every Friday as you except to find it. God bless Psych!

So last week was a pretty good episode, but still had a few things I didn’t enjoy so much, like the fact that part of the cast was not actually involved in the case and as a result got stuck within boring fillers. It wasn’t the first time, but it really needed to be the last time. Lucky us, it seems it was!

Writers’ Strike: Reasons to be optimistic ?

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | January 26, 2008

Is the strike ending ?For way too long both sides were not even talking, which couldn’t obviously lead to any kind of resolution of the ongoing writers’ strike. Then, after the DGA signed a deal with the AMPTP, things started to change.

First off, people started to talk again !! This is like the very first thing that’s an absolute requirement if you want anything - anything - to happen. It doesn’t mean anything per-se, it doesn’t mean people are willing to negotiate or that they come in with an open mind, but at least they’re talking, and without that we have nothing.

But, as it turn out people were not simply going back to talk about the weather, they intended to work on that whole messy situation that’s been going on for way too long, and it seems that they were ready to do what needs to be done in order to get somewhere.

Tonight On TV

* As it is now usual on Friday, there’s really not much on TV. And it does not start at 8.00

* As far as I’m concerned, there’s only one show I watch, it’s at 10.00 on USA : Psych

* Before that, there’s actually Monk on USA, and Friday Night Lights on NBC

* And facing Psych at 10.00 is a new Las Vegas on NBC…

Thursday’s Numbers

Wow, weird, Fox didn’t win lats night. What happened ?

Anyways, at 8.00 and for its season finale Ugly Betty didn’t do well, with a season low of 8.9 million viewers. Then came the first part of the “sandwich” NBC had cooked up for you. Turns out that many fans of good (scripted) television might have simply moved on to other things, because along with Ugly Betty, NBC show hit a season low as well (6.9 million).

Chuck: Chuck Versus The Marlin

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | January 25, 2008

Chuck(S01E13) Same player, play again. One hour after the previous episode came this one, and because of the writers’ strike, despite getting a full order for 22 episodes, this one will be the last one of the season. That is yet another show you can add on your list of shows that is vanishing away completely from our screens. Let’s all really hope that the strike gets resolved soon, because this has been going on for way too long. (And to make sure networks understand that, don’t watching anything they offer as “replacement”.)

As for this show, well, I didn’t really like the last episode, but then again I’m not a huge fan of the show so here we go. Who knows, maybe this very last episode will have me changing my mind and realizing how wrong I was ?

Chuck: Chuck Versus The Undercover Lover

Chuck(S01E12) So you know how it goes : no, I don’t really like this show, yet yes, I did watch it. I just figured, due to the strike those were the last two of the season, and given how for one reason (it was new) or another (Rachel Bilson) I pretty much ended up watching the whole show so far, I might as well go ahead and watch the first season completely. It’s not like there was still 11 episodes or something like that.

Before we go into this episode, I just want to repeat how, while I may not be a fan of this show, I hate NBC for their stupid scheduling tactic and I can only hope that the large majority of the people who watched this episode did not watched that crap that came after, even if they came back for the season finale after wards. Nothing would please me more to see NBC’s numbers and read something like 8 million, 4 million, 8 million. Hey, one can dream, right?

ABC Will Air A Special “Enhanced” Version Of Lost Season Three Finale

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | January 25, 2008

LostThe new season of Lost will now premiere very soon. At some point we didn’t know when the show would come back, and then it felt like so far away, and even if - sadly - the writers’ strike is still going on and, as a result, we will get a butchered season, or half a season I should say, the day is near and we can feel the excitement in the air already !

And to keep things up ABC announced that the day before the season four premiere, they will air a rerun of the fantastic finale of last season, Through The Looking Glass. But wait, there’s more! This will not be just another repeat like any other, instead it will be a special “enhanced” version, with on-screen facts, clues and back story.

Writers of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report unite : Mock Debate

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | January 25, 2008

Mock DebateThe strike is still here, and writers are missed in every show. Recently, Stephen Colbert went as far as to sing a song dedicated to all, ans especially his, striking writers.

And today, they are in the news. The Writers Guilds of America brought their ongoing strike to Washington D.C., as an attempt to move the battle beyond the streets of Los Angeles and New-York. Doing what they do best, they wrote an hilarious mock debate which wasn’t only funny but also helped others to understand the reason of the strike and the way things were happening.

Writers of The Daily Show Rob Kutner, Tim Carvell and Jason Ross were on the WGA side, while writers of The Colbert Report Michael Brumm, Peter Grosz and Tom Purcell get into the suits of the AMPTP. I could tell you how great and hilarious it was, but it’s better to let you see for yourself :

To All Chuck Fans: Whatever you do, do NOT watch NBC tonight at 9.00, please!

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | January 24, 2008

As you probably know already if you’re a fan of Chuck, NBC airs not one but two new episodes tonight. But, they do not air them back to back as you may think, because if they decided to burn their two last remaining episodes of the show, it’s because they want to get fans of the show to watch some unscripted crap, that they’ll put right in between the two episodes.

But if you like Chuck, and would like to see more of it after those two last episodes, you need to not watch NBC at 9.00

So tonight, here’s what’s gonna happen on NBC, explained by the cast of Chuck itself (if you want to hear Yvonne Strahovski’s Australian accent, here’s your chance) :
