* So you may not know this, but tonight Lost is back. Yeah, I know, it’s not been talked about that much, ABC played it low key for some reason, but it is tonight ! Oh yeah it is, tonight is the night. Yes, it’s only half a season, but it is Lost God Damnit! And that’s not all, there’s even more stuff coming back actually tonight…
* At 8.00 ABC starts with the traditional recap episode. Yeah, not really worth it.
* Does that mean watching Smallville on The CW is better ? Not sure…
* Then it kinda sucks, because The CW welcomes our favorite hunters, the Winchester brothers are back in a new episode of Supernatural
* Too bad that no one will be watching (Thank God for DVR), because all eyes will focus on ABC at that time, for the season premiere of the (half-)season fourth of Lost !!!
* Of course HBO has a new episode of In Treatment at 9.30 as it does every day
* And hoping that after a new Lost, people will not talk about it, think about it, or watch it again but instead watch whatever comes next, coming next is Eli Stone ! The show is not bad, it has a “cheap” Ally McBeal to it in a way, but it’s really not like Ally. It’s different, it’s not as good, but it’s not bad, at least not for now…

Okay there’s one thing I want to say before Lost comes back : lately as we’re all waiting for the new season to premiere, people all over the place have been compiling and making their lists. Everyone has his own list of questions about Lost, his lists of mysteries and things unknown that they want, or demand even, answers to. I’ve been reading non-stop the top 8 question that this season has to answer, or the 15 mysteries that must be answered or else (or else what? exactly!), and quite frankly I’ve been annoyed by such lists, and especially the tone of some of them, very quickly.
There are two reasons that those kind of lists made me mad, basically. For starter, I love Lost, I think it’s one of the best thing on television that we’ve seen for years, and I have been the first one to criticize it when it got bad, and somewhere during the second season I got pissed and my faith was fading away more and more with time, I was getting convinced that the men behind the curtains of that show had no clue about anything, pretty much like us.

You’ll hear that American Idol is still bleeding, down from 31.4 million last season to 24.2 million viewers last night, but that still makes it a winner. We all know Nielsen ratings are completely out of touch with the actual reality of what people really watch on TV, I wonder how wrong they are about Idol too. Anyways, it may not be doing as good as it used to, but Fox still blew away all the competition and over the night had almost as much viewers as all other networks combined. So you can tell Fox how Idol is bleeding all you want, they’ll still laugh at you…
But the “big” thing of the night was the rerun of last season finale of Lost on ABC, in that “enhanced” version. From what I’ve heard, cause no, I didn’t get to watch it, it was pretty awful, with stupid comments like “Jack is depressed“. In other words, fans were somewhere from bored to annoyed, newcomers were insulted and treated as morons, and didn’t learn anything.

Shows: Law & Order, Lost

I haven’t followed every late night show since they came back on the air, but I will admit to watching a few of them, some more frequently than others. And to be completely honest, none of them had writers. I’m sure Ferguson is actually doing some great & funny shows, and every time I watched the show I liked it, but somehow I never became a regular viewers.
Among the late-night shows I’ve watched more than a few times are The A Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and of course Late Night with Conan O’Brien. And in the past I’ve already commented on how overall Conan managed to do a nice job at his writerless show. And then lately I tuned in, and I’ve was shocked to see a “new” Conan, a Conan like I used to see him months ago, a Conan with writers without his beard.

(S01E03) It’s a daily show, so with a new day came a new episode, and a new patient for Paul Weston, therapist of In Treatment. As I’ve said yesterday, I think than this show might probably not be watched “fully”, but that people will chose their day and patients of choice. You have to give it to them, so, with each episode came a new character, and they’re all different.
This week we met with Sophie, and she was nothing like Alex or Laura, which were both nothing alike already. So at least there’s that. But because they are indeed different, and because each episode that will be about them will entirely depend on them, their story, and whether or not we actually care for it, it’ll be easy for people to decide that some patient isn’t worth their time and they don’t bother with the show on that day.

You have heard about Cloverfield. I know you have, because everyone has. Cloverfield is the latest film from Lost co-creator JJ Abrams. Well, actually no, it isn’t a JJ Abrams movie, Matt Reeves is the one who directed this movie, despite all the promos using (mostly) JJ Abrams’ name.
And I know that trying to see some connections between this movie and ABC hit-drama Lost, is pretty dull. Obviously those are two independent and unrelated things, that have nothing in common. Nothing but the fact that they share some creative minds, since Lost co-creator, writer and executive producer JJ Abrams is indeed a producer on Cloverfield, as well as being involved in the writing of the movie, signed by friend & Lost writer Drew Goddard.
Not only that, but much like the hit TV show, the movie was promoted with one main thing in mind : mystery. Yes, it’s about some “monster” or something, destroying Net-York City and killing everything, but you don’t know what that thing is. And that’s what it’s all about, there’s this big secret, this mystery, and this incredible hype that’s been build up about it, and when it’s time to deliver the main basic question is this this one : Will it live up to the hype, will it be good, or a huge disappointment ?
Sounds familiar ?

* After the “return” of House last night, and before the big night tomorrow, today we have a much slower night…
* To keep us with the latest trend, at 8.00 there’s nothing
* At 9.00, as promised, ABC re-airs a special “enhanced” version of the amazing season finale of last season Lost. “Enhanced” because they’ll have little info popping up on the screen all along the way, which is likely to be distracting and I doubt will give any insight to fans of the show, but might be welcome for newbies…
* At 9.30 on HBO Paul has a new patient In Treatment, the Wednesday’s one, Sophie.
* And at 10.00 there’s a new Law & Order on NBC

Fox was a clear winner last night, no question about it. With 25.3 million viewers and 9.8 on the 18-49 demo, it left the competition way behind. CBS came second in total viewers was not even 9 million viewers, while NBC was second on the 18-49 with a 3.2
For its “Christmasy” return America’s most favorite doctor, House, helped by lead-in American Idol and its 27.7 million viewers, blew everything else and scored no less than a season high, with 22.5 million viewers. Way after came The Biggest Loser with 9.8 million viewers.

Shows: According To Jim, Carpoolers, House, One Tree Hill

(S04E10) Finally!! Finally, after all this time we got to see our favorite Doctor back! Going to see the doctor isn’t usually fun, but when it’s House we’re talking about it couldn’t be any better. I couldn’t wait for a new episode, and I was so happy to see him and his team back I didn’t even mind that despite the first month on 2008 being almost over this was a Christmas-themed episode.
What I now realize troubles me a little if I think about it is the very sad news that now that we’ve seen this episode, there’s only two left. That’s right, we only have one episode coming right after the Superbowl this Sunday, and then next week a new - and, sadly, final - episode of the season.
But for now, let’s focus on how great it was to see House back, and how this episode went down.

Shows: House
In Series: House Season 4

(S01E02) Another day, another session. That’s how it works with HBO’s new series, In Treatment. I’m not sure how it is going to turn out in the end, but after two episodes only I can already see how some could watch only parts of the show, not all episodes, but only those they are interested in.
And because of its unusual “format”, it’s not hard to figure out which one you may be interested in, and which on you may drop. The show will obviously work on a “serialized” format, but with four different stories, one per patient. And not only are those stories completely unrelated to one another, but you know in advance which episode will focus on which story, and that there will never be one episode with more than one story. Except for Friday, of course, when Dr Paul Weston goes to see his own therapist. So it should be easy to pick your days.
Last night was Tuesday, and Tuesday is the day when Alex comes in.
