After much delay the suspense is finally over, as ABC revealed their strike-schedule for next year. Now I’m sure there were things other than Lost mentioned on that thing, but let’s be honest here : who cares ?
Right, so with that plus the fact that I’m tired and should go to sleep, allow me to only focus on Lost for now. The fact ABC would indeed go with it and air a butchered season of their hit-drama was no surprise at this point, but what was killing us was to know when it would actually happen, and rumors were strong that the show would also change its timeslot.
It was all confirmed tody as ABC announced that the season 4 of Lost would premiere on Thursday, January 31st at 9.00 ! That’s right, you read that correctly, the show will move into Grey’s Anatomy slot and air on Thursdays at 9.00 from now on. Now I won’t lie to you, when I read this I was shocked.
Not shocked that the show was to air, or that it moved to Thursdays. No what shocked me was the date the season would premiere…

This Thursday CBS had s a full night of fresh episodes, unlike other networks were reruns were legion, and the results speak for themselves : CBS was the clear winner of the night with 16.5 millions viewers. Fox came second with only 8.3 million. CBS was also a winner on the 18-49 demo with 4.9, long ahead of NBC with 2.7 and Fox with 2.6 Meanwhile, you can tell ABC was on rerun mode…

Numbers for Wednesday is finally out, those for yesterday will follow soon. CBS and NBC are both coming in strong, while ABC sunk down and came dead last on the 18-49 demo.
At 8.00 it’s almost as if everyone assumed that it was all reruns, because the last episode of the season for Pushing Daisies only captivated 6.9 million viewers, which is no only much lower than the 10.2 million viewers of two weeks ago but also less than the season average. In fact, it was a series low for the finale. The slot was dominated by Deal Or No Deal with 13.3 million viewers, next came Kid Nation with 7.5 million viewers.

(S03E08) Before leaving the year 2007 behind them, the Winchester brothers had to come back one more time for a Christmas special episode. Don’t worry, there should still be a few more episodes left, but they won’t be around this year. And to say goodbye we had, as it was announced, A Very Supernatural Christmas.
In the world of Supernatural, where monsters are legion and fighting for you life, and the sake of the Universe, Christmas day isn’t that different than any other day. There might be people dressing up as Santa, lights in the trees and all of that, but there’s also a dark side, living in the shadow hides evil bloody monsters killing people and feeding on their soul, or flesh.
None of it is very new, but that doesn’t mean it’s not good, of course.

The last episode of hit-show Grey’s Anatomy that has aired so far is episode 10, but ABC still has one more episode left in the can. Episode 11 has been completed and, as far as I know, ABC is planning on airing it. But here’s the thing : this episode was not completed before the strike kicked in.
In fact, creator Shonda Rhimes said she’s done no writing since the strike began November 5th, and recently told New-York Post that the episode was finished after the writers’ strike, and as such without her input.
While walking the picket line in front of Paramount Studios in L.A. Rhimes talked to the Post, and explained that ABC “shot it after we walked out. That one episode hasn’t aired, everything else we’ve done has aired. I’ve never not been in the editing room. It’s been a very weird transition.“

(S02E09) As I said yesterday, more and more shows are saying goodbye these days, as they leave the air for the year 2007, and no one knows exactly when, in 2008, they’ll come back. And 30 Rock was one of them, because this episode wasn’t just a Christmas special, it was also the last one to be completed before the strike. Obviously we’ll have to do without the craziness and hilarity from this show for quite a long time, even if the strike was over today, so things are going to be tough.
So how did you like your last dose of the year ? Was it as good as you could have expected it to be, were you disappointed or in fact pleased beyond your expectations ? I personally think this has been a tremendous season so far, so I want to keep happy memory of the show.

* Lots of shows are saying goodbye to 2007 lately, and tonight is no exception. Some are even coming back on The CW just for the occasion with a Christmas special episode.
* At 8.30 don’t miss the last episode of the last sitcom still standing on NBC’s comedy night : the hilarious 30 Rock ! I have no idea how I’ll do without that show next year…
* And at 9.00 we have a nice present on The CW in the form of a Christmas special of Supernatural !

(S03E11) Gideon is far gone now, and the show has definitely found its new tone. I’m not saying everything is perfect, but not everything was perfect either was the original boss was around. People are human, things are never perfect. But it’s close enough. The tone is different, of course, but overall I fell like for a few episodes now we’ve had a very strong show back on tracks.
With that said, and while I mostly enjoyed the episode, I did feel that a few things were off. Like, some were easy to figure out. Not that it was too obvious, nor was it possible to figure it all out from the first minutes, but it remained predictable.
