* As you can see, CBS still has new episodes of series saying goodbye to 2007, like NCIS or The Unit, or saying goodbye for longer, if not for good, like Cane.
* Nothing worth anything anywhere else, except maybe ABC and a new Boston Legal at 10.00
* Is it me, or is there a lot more new episodes around Christmas this year than there usually is ? Damn, networks must love the strike, given how quickly they try to get ride of all their completed episodes…
- Were you wondering what happened to Wisteria Lane after that tornado I’ve heard so much about hit ? ABC still has one more episode of Desperate Housewives in stock, but until now they were holding on to it, because the last one that aired worked better as it ended on a great cliffhanger.
If you feared that they might hold on to it for as long as they could, fear no more : ABC has announced that the very last episode to be completed before the strike will air quite soon, as soon as January 6 in fact !
Remember back when I said that we should stay away from reality TV, games and all the crap networks are intending to use to do without the writers ? That still holds, of course, if you like TV, and watch your selection of series that you do love, or at least you used to before they got taken out, if you miss them and want them back soon : don’t want anything else.
No reruns, no reality crap, no games, no television until the strike is over ! Well, you can even extended that, of course, to on-line streaming and even buying DVDs. Want to know more about this ? Here’s a bunch of writers explaining it all in a very nice and colorful way :
Wednesday’s results are in, and guess who won its slot at 8.00, on both total viewers and on the 18-49 demo ? Nope, it wasn’t ABC and Duel. No, wasn’t either Clash Of The Choirs on NBC. I’m happy to report they all got beaten by Fox, and a repeat of House coming first (8.0 million viewers, 2.7). For the record, ABC did beat NBC (7.8 vs 7.5 million viewers, 2.4 vs 2.3)
Still, CBS did win the night in both viewers and on the 18-49 demo, and they have a new CSI: Miami to thank for, as well as repeats of Two And A Half Men, which at 9.00 both came first and second with 11.4 and 11.2 million viewers. Coming after, NBC took over ABC with 8.4 million viewers still on Clash Of The Choirs, while Duel only had 7.5 million left.
- NBC announced that, after Law & Order: Criminal Intend, which was sent back to USA before the strike, then brought back to the big network to help during the strike, two more series will be treated the same : both Monk and Psych are scheduled to appear on NBC on Sundays in March. New episodes still air on USA first, of course. Meaning at NBC, there’s not hope that by March the situation will be resolved.
- Many people are guessing that it might takes weeks if not months only to get the AMPTP and the WGA to talk again. Producer Dick Wolf - of all the Law & Order series fame - kinda agrees, although he wishes people (read AMPTP and co) would realize how important things are, and how badly they’re hurting the television business : “This is a disaster for the television business. My sincerest hope (…) is that people get their heads on straight. It’s an absolute necessity. (…) I have a horrifying feeling it’s going to be longer unless it solved in the next 10 days or two weeks. It could be a horrifically long strike.”
- Not strike-related : CBS had an explosive year, and they are hoping that 2008 will be even better :
The 12th Annual Satellite Awards, given out by the International Press Academy, took place this Sunday, and they got some right, and some wrong. Although, many times the nominees weren’t right, so there couldn’t have been a good choice anyway, it was too late.
Among the series fans can be happy to hear were rewarded, can be found Dexter, Pushing Daisies, Ugly Betty or Grey’s Anatomy.
Seriously, NBC, what the fuck ? Who are the brain-dead morons running this company, because sometimes I feel the need to kick them as hard as one can be kicked. There aren’t any new official reports or announcement, but the more you look at things the more it looks like NBC is not going to pick up Journeyman for a full season order (last ordered episode, episode 13, will are this Wednesday at 10.00) but is more likely to cancel it.
Meanwhile, I had already heard that some people were planning and writing a season finale, or maybe series finale, for Bionic Woman. No, that wouldn’t necessary mean a full season order is planned either, but it would mean more episodes to come. Because unlike Journeyman, the crappy NBC retake on Bionic Woman only had eight episodes completed before the strike.
Forget about the season four teaser of about thirty seconds that got released a few days ago, there’s a new one out there !
Once again, I personally believe that it’s best not to get spoiled and to find out everything while watching the episode, so I’m not watching it. Feel free to do so if you’d like to, just don’t blame me if you get spoiled and regret it after wards.
I have not seen it so I don’t know if it is spoiler-filled or not, but I hear it is. Again, my advice, better to hold on, wait longer, and enjoy it fully as it comes, when it’ll come. But if you’re a freak who can’t wait, it’s after the jump ! Read the rest of “New & Extended Lost Season 4 Trailer !” »
(S01E12) As I said yesterday, it looks like the end is coming for this show. After one more episode, episode 13, this Wednesday at 10.00, it is over. There are no more episodes completed left for NBC to air, but that only makes sense given that no more then those 13 episodes have been ordered anyway. Fans are already trying to get NBC to “change his mind” - despite the lack of official announcement - and to pick up the show for a full season order.
As far as I’m concerned, I haven’t been a fan of the show, but I like it. I’ve been watching every single episode ever since the start, and I wouldn’t mind having nine more episodes, for a start. As I’ve said in the past, here is an undeniable quality be the show. And, really, like any other good show, this one is so much better than the piece of crap whose faith is also still undetermined, Bionic Woman. Seriously, now that crap didn’t have any episode that wasn’t beyond awful.
That said, Journeyman isn’t perfect too, as this episode illustrated.
There were only rumors at first, but then official announcements from the network and press release from the hosts themselves followed, leaving no doubt that both Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien would indeed come back to work, and have their show back on the air starting January 2nd, 2008.
While stating that they were only doing so reluctantly and only in order to save jobs - as this move would allow for about a hundred non-writing staff members per show not to be let go - questions are are rising in the mind of many people, and writers’ supporters : wasn’t this move just a cave in to NBC’s demands, will this not be seen as an act going against the writers’ strike, should we or should we not hate NBC’s late night hosts ?
