Screen Actors Guild Awards : Nominations

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 20, 2007

One new set of nominees was announced, this time it was the SAG Awards. Winners will be announced on January 27, 2008.

The nominees aren’t really always the right ones, in my opinion, and for instance I find it hard to understand that the only newcomers you can find are Mad Men, Samantha Who? and Damages. I mean, seriously. How can there be nothing for the best new series of the season, the fantastic Life, or the oh-so-sweet Pushing Daisies ? Just doesn’t make sense to me…

List of nominees after the jump, with in bold my votes, and maybe a few comments as well, as usual… Although I pretty much expressed my choices over the Golden Globes nominations.

Journeyman: Perfidia

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 20, 2007

Journeyman(S01E13) So I was out today, and couldn’t watched this sooner. But, finally, here I am, here we are, episode 13 of Journeyman. The very last episode to be completed, or even ordered by NBC. Although three more scripts were ordered before the strike, in case, the episodes were never ordered, the show has still not been picked for a full season order, and while there’s no official announcement of cancellation this might very well be the series finale.

Given the not so good numbers of Monday’s episode, it doesn’t look good. The only hope, maybe, for the show might be that with a strike that last and a pilot season ruined, NBC could decide to order more episode of this show only because they don’t have no new series to replace it with. Although, while I’m all for new episodes of Journeyman, I don’t wish for a longer strike than it already is.

Back on this (last) episode.

Tonight On TV: Gossip Christmas, the end of the Journeyman (?)

Tonight On TV

* A couple of shows are back tonight ! Not as much as originally planed though, because CBS pulled out fresh episodes. (Well, they probably only announced them and promoted them knowing they wouldn’t air them, just as a way to try to trick viewers into tuning in…)

* Anyways, at 9.00 The CW has the Christmas special of Gossip Girl.

* Not to forget, of course, that at 10.00 NBC airs what will likely be the very last episode of Journeyman, ever. Season finale ? Series finale ? Either way, don’t miss it!

Message from networks, studios and AMPTP to TV viewers : you’re morons !

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 19, 2007

AMPTPI’ve had it, I can’t stand those assholes from the AMPTP and those fat greedy studios’ exec. Yes, I do support the writers and I believe what they’re asking is nothing but fair, and that they should get what they’re asking for. But even trying to put my own beliefs and opinions aside, at least the writers aren’t a bunch lying motherfuckers ! Yes, it’s nothing new that those greedy fucks would lie and try to manipulate everyone and do everything they’re doing right now.

Of course this shouldn’t be much of a surprise – but haven’t they realized that they’re putting the future of the television media in jeopardy. Because let me assure you, them, everyone, that many people will move away from their TV, find new ways to get their entertainment and pass the time, and if they do, they might not ever come back to television. Ever.

Tuesday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 19, 2007

Even though CBS had a little more viewers, the winner of the night - sadly - is NBC, coming second with 10.2 million viewers (vs 10.3 for CBS) and first on the 18-49 demo with 3.9 And it is very sad, because NBC only nothing but crap on (Clash Of The Choirs, Biggest Loser), and exactly the kind of crap that any TVoholic, addict, or just regular fan should not be watching !

At 8.00 the repeat of NCIS did much better than the competition, with 13.1 million viewers and 2.8 on the 18-49 demo. Next was NBC, with 7.7 million viewers. Oh yeah, after announcing and promoting a fresh episode of NCIS, CBS went with a repeat in the end.

Golden Globes, Oscars… not this year!

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 19, 2007

Oscar On StrikeThere were concerns whether or not the Golden Globes (airing January 13) and the Oscars (February 24) would be able to actually happen or not, with the strike going on and all. The Hollywood Foreign Press (Golden Globes) and the AMPAS (Oscars) have both asked the WGA for wavers that would allow writers to work on the show, to prepare material and use clips from previous shows.

Obviously, the requests were denied by the WGA :

The 4400 canceled !!!

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 19, 2007

The 4400Wow, this I didn’t expect. I knew the USA’s series The 4400 still hadn’t been renewed for another season, despite last season’s finale being a few months old now already, but I really wanted to believe that there was going to be another season, because we needed at least one more season.

Yes, I like the show, I think it’s a good one, and not only that but also the last episode was absolutely not a series finale, I mean we haven’t had any answers about anything ! All the mysteries are still strong as ever, and so many stories are on hold as well, there hasn’t been no resolution whatsoever. Come on, USA, you can’t let us hanging like that !

Well, I’m afraid they will. They did, in fact.

Kimmel to return in January as well, Letterman still working on a deal…

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 19, 2007

Jimmy KimmelFollowing on announcements that both Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien will go back on the air next year, without their still striking writers of course, as one could have expected Jimmy Kimmel has now announced that he too would return on the air, starting January 2nd as well.

Jimmy Kimmel has been supporting the writers from day one, has been seen picketing himself and serving lunch to fellow picketing writers, has also been quietly paying his non-writing staff ever since the strike started, and his show went off the air - despite being payed much less than other big late night hosts.

Quarterlife to premiere on NBC February 18

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 19, 2007

QuarterlifeBecause networks are a bunch of stupid liars, while they might pretend not to need writers to get their business working, because they can fill the air with crappy games and shit like that, all of us TVoholics know better. In fact, so do they. Which is exactly why they’re trying to use other ways to add fresh writers’ work on their schedules, to get new scripted content : because they know that’s what people love the most, and because they know that’s what advertisers too, love the most.

Many networks are already looking at their cable sisters to steal good series - which is bad, really, because even when they don’t butcher the shows to make them more family-friendly, they’re trying to do without writers and attract supporters of the writers by using the writers’ own work !

No Entourage next year ?

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 19, 2007

EntourageWhile many people keep ranting about how Entourage lost his mojo and isn’t as good as it used to be, which probably only means it’s simply not as new as it was, still we all keep watching the show. For a good reason : it still is funny.

Sure, it’s not perfect, but it still remains a great, refreshing, funny show that you love to watch, isn’t it ? But if you said “yes” to that question, you might be disappointed to learn that, if things don’t evolve rapidly, you may not get to see Vince and his boys anytime soon.
