Couple of news, quickly.
- Preston Beckman, who handles scheduling at Fox, gave some thoughts about what he thinks might be series that may not have been massive hits so far, but could go the distance. His selection is made of ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money, CBS’ The Big Bang Theory and NBC’s Life. I’m not liking DSM that much, but I sure hope the two others get picked up, they deserve it!
- Heroes creator and executive producer Tim Kring doesn’t seem to care about all the complaints made towards his series, or the poor ratings it gets. He assures people than as the new chapter will end, which unlike last season won’t happen on the season finale but on episode 11, all things will make sense and people will forget about what went wrong.
Somehow I doubt it, but “it will all be paid off by episode 11” assures Kring, adding that “from 7 to 11 are the best episodes we’ve ever done“. Yeah, sounds just like Prison Break’s producers claiming that this was going to be the best season yet to me…
- Recently Hugh Laurie flew away back home. That would mean London, England, as he comes from there and his family still lives on the Island. Seems that Laurie suffers from depression, and he missed his family and was “drained” by the show’s overnight success and the 14-hour, five-days-a-week demands of the job. Production of House supports him, and so do we as he’s a great guy, a fantastic actor, and family comes first.
Plus, I hear there’s a strike coming up, so….

Chances are you already heard about a possible strike from the Writers’ Guild of America (WGA), and if rumors are true, it gets more and more likely that it will actually happen. And, well, it sucks.
Yeah, it really does. I won’t argue about what this is all about, but basically the American Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) doesn’t want to give due money to the writers over “new media”, such as DVDs.
But who cares about that ? I mean, as TVoholic or just regular viewers, what we care about is how this strike will affect us.

A couple more shows I got to watch. I know they aired on Monday, but I don’t get to see the that soon, and only managed to do so today. There is a good one, and a bad one. We’ll start with the good one.
The Big Bang Theory
So, maybe you know this one, maybe you don’t. I would totally get it if you never bother to watch it : this show is about two geeks theoretical physicists meeting their new neighbor, who happens to be a girl. We actually follow those two and a bunch of their friends, all geeks, in their daily life trying to behave like, you know, regular people.
Which isn’t that easy for them, because, well , they’re geeks. But the real kind, they look and sound like geeks, they argue over Superman’s plot and for Halloween they dress up as the Doppler effect. And really, it’s funny. It really is.

(S02E06) I’ve got a question : why am I still watching that show ? Why are you ? No seriously, it’s been weeks now and it’s always the same BS, every week we get to complain about the same problems with the show, and every week is a disappointment after another one. It really looks like what they really cared about, was to promote the show, I’m sorry I mean the hit show, or the greatest hit ever in the whole history and I’m sure NBC likes to think of it.
Only problem is, focus on that, spend all the money you got on hiring half a dozen new actors every week for a few month, and you’re pretty sure to end up with a series where special effects are as good as they were 20 years ago, in Kazakhstan, and scripts, well, you don’t get any of that.

Shows: Heroes
In Series: Heroes Season 2

(S01E06) When I first heard of this show new, I was curious about it. I didn’t think it was gonna be great or really bad, I didn’t know how much like Quantum Leap it would be, all I knew was that it might be worth a look. So I watched the pilot, and then I got interested, very interested even.
Because it was obvious that it wasn’t going to be just some stupid remake of the aforementioned series, but much more. It was differently done, on a few levels, and it got some ideas and mysteries that I got quite curious about. So I started to tune in every week…
This is when things started to go downhill. Because soon enough, the flaws and problems, for some already there in the pilot, started to grow and grow, and a few of the really interesting ideas were simply forgotten, not mentioned ever again - or only from time to time, to fill in the hour. I got very disappointed by what happened and a few episodes, the last ones left me even considering I might stop watching the show all together!
Of course I did not, but I find myself wondering now, have I gone past the point of no return ?

(S01E03) Well, you may not know this already but ABC has ordered nine more episodes of their latest sitcom, after ordering six more last week already, bringing this brand new series to a full season order already !
I know the first episodes did pretty well, and it’s got Christina Applegate starring, but isn’t there a chance that it be might a little too soon ? I mean I saw the pilot, filled with clichés and stuff, but pretty funny I agree.
Then came the second episode, and as I said previously, it didn’t look so good. It was still funny, but it relied entirely on Applegate’s character to be so, and she couldn’t keep running and jumping and never taking one second to breath, she had to slow down a little. And it showed.
Then came this third episode…

Shows: Samantha Who?
By fred | October 30, 2007
(S03E06) Last time I wondered why the show wasn’t any more popular than it is, because it really deserves it. And yes, okay, during the first few episodes one may have been formulating a few worries as to whether or not it was still as good and funny as it used to be.
First off, this is irrelevant regarding the popularity of the show, which was more of a global appreciation of the show, all seasons included. Then, I think the announcement can be officially made now, it’s time : as the recent episodes have proven, the show is fully back, it is nothing but great fun to watch it and all signs of disappointment have been erased.
In others words, yes, this episode was great.

Jesus, some people really are stupid, or is it just due to a complete lack of creativity and originality ? Either way, if - as me - you didn’t like the extended version of The Office, you’ll probably be delighted to hear that apparently - if we believe Michael Ausiello and his multiple sources - NBC in considering creating a spin-off !
If you stop there, this is an awful idea. When you learn that unlike how spinoff are usually done, this one wouldn’t include the loss of one (or more) characters from the original show we all love, to be sent to their own series, you think :
- this is good, because there was absolutely no reason to take any member of our beloved team out and stuck them in their own stories. Want to know how bad it can be, just watched Heroes and how Hiro’s character and story became annoying and useless, to say the least.
- but then, you ask yourself, what’s the “spin-off” gonna be about ?

(S01E06) Ok, time for my new rant about how Chuck sucks. Sure, I’ve been doing that every week pretty much since the show debuted, I actually started before that even, but it’s not my fault. I mean, it does suck.
Now you may ask, then, why in Hell am I still watching it! Well, let me tell you…. you know what, what kind of a question is that, anyway. The fact and the matter is, I really don’t enjoy watching it. It’s not really painful (err, actually…) but it’s definitely not fun either. Yet I do, I keep tuning in, again this week I watched a new episode. Why do it I it ? Well…

Shows: Chuck
In Series: Chuck Season 1

This is a little off-topic, but here’s the thing : recently another bunch of stupid morons showed the world how stupid they really are. And they’re proud of it with that.
Maybe you knew that great pink palace that was OiNK (who got its own Wikipedia page now!), it was the greatest place for any music lover out there, a truly awesome community based around a great private torrent tracker. And in their incredibly stupid way of going after their customers, it has recently been shut down by international police and other various anti-piracy groups. Read way to rich assholes who deserves to be killed. Anyways…
I’m incredibly pissed, and sad, after this latest development, and I just came across a pretty damn good post about this situation, called When Pigs Fly: The Death of Oink, the Birth of Dissent, and a Brief History of Record Industry Suicide, with which I basically agree 110%, and I urge any one who actually likes music (American Idol fans you are not concerned) to read it fully. It really is worth it!
I’m really gonna miss the place, it trully was the best place for Waffles. For more OiNK’s news, see this site. And don’t send any money to scam sites, they’re easy to catch : they ask for money!
