House: Alone

House(S04E01) I haven’t mention the return of the greatest show on TV, House, but I think I should say a few words about it. Not only because it’s House, and it was - as one could have expected - absolutely brilliant, but also because after expressing my fears about how the season might go, time to see whether or not it was justified.

Because as you know, last season ended with the complete team leaving House, and the hospital. Chase was fired, Cameron & Foreman resigned. And as much as I love them, I think my ideal choice would be for them not to come back. But they will, eventually. Which, as I told, is a stupid TV cliché, and I really wish House would have been above all that, and done better.

So let’s see how they actually did it.

Life: Pilot

Life(S01E01) I haven’t hidden the fact that NBC new cop show, Life, was one of the show I was most awaiting for. Hadn’t seen it, and despite what may sound like a quite old and, one might even say, boring, plot line - cop was framed and sent to jail for a triple murder he did not commit, eventually got proven innocent and released free after 12 years, with a nice but undisclosed amount of money, and of course he’s back in the force - yet despite all that, I simply couldn’t wait to see what it’d be like.

Why ? Because of a clip I saw. And a line I loved.

And we continue to go on our big week of TV, with no new series today, only returning ones. Thursday is still mostly a comedy day, and what comedy do we have!!

* At 8.00pm, NBC welcomes back Earl and his friends with a one-hour episode of My Name Is Earl !

* Same time, different channel, The CW has Clark Kent on Supergirl Smallville

* At 9.00pm, the big laughs are coming, get yourself ready people, because they’re back : NBC has another special one-hour long episode, but this time it’s no other than The Office ! After some pretty interesting summer, Michael, Dwight, Jim, Pam, Ryan and all the others are back, and it’s going to be legendary!

* At 9.00pm, CBS has his big hit CSI.

* If you’re still looking for something else at that time, you’re weird. But ABC thought of you, as Grey’s Anatomy has its season premiere!

* Or, The CW has a repeat of Reaper, in case you missed it.

* At 10.00pm is another return on CBS, as Without A Trace returns.

To sum up: My Name Is Earl, then The Office. This is your night of television tonight. Any other show is optional, but feel free to record your favorite ones. Just don’t miss the one-hour NBC comedies, especially the second one - might I add.

Some Numbers…

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | September 27, 2007

* Monday

Despite a disappointing start, Heroes kicked off its second season with solid numbers, and 14.12 million viewers. NBC new shows Chuck and Journeyman stared more modestly, with respectively 9.28 and 9.48 millions. Looks like despite my hate of it Chuck did a good start, as it even managed to build audience - while Journeyman actually lost viewers, which is totally unfair yet understandable. That’s how the show is.

Prison Break didn’t suffer from all this and kept in his 7.2 million viewers, which at least should ensure this season is the last. On the other hand, following show K-Ville might not even get one full season, seeing how after doing better than its lead-in (Prison Break) last week, and 9 millions viewers, it went down to 6.17 millions this week. So you and I saw the same show last week I guess.

Finally, the awesome How I Met Your Mother did 8.27 million, which isn’t so bad but not that good either. Come on people, watch it, it’s really worth it! The only sitcom that’s better than this one is called The Office, and it’s not on the same night, what’s your problem??

Get ready for Knight Rider !!

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | September 27, 2007

No, not a misprint, a mistake, a joke, or something inspired from a very old news misdated. NBC is seriously considering bringing Knight Rider back on the air. Sort of.

Knight Rider

After the success of the shitty movie Transformers - cause that movie was really bad - some moron exec over a NBC had a stupid brilliant idea : create a show about a single man fighting for justice with the help of his superadvanced, transforming, talking car. A car which logo will have a lot of screen time, even better product placement than on Heroes.

Prison Break: Fire/Water

Prison Break(S03E02) Well, I just saw the second episode of this new season of Prison Break, and I think I stand exactly where I stood after the first episode, nothing really changed in feelings towards this new season.

And in a way, this is not the worst news of all, it means it did not get (really) worse. I guess it did not, but for sure it did not get any better. It all goes according to what I thought, feared was the plan, and that’s definitely not a good plan. Not for the season, not for the show.

Journeyman: Pilot

Journeyman(S01E01) Well, I think you cannot read something about NBC’s new series Journeyman without a mention of reference to Quantum Leap. And it makes sense, of course, seeing how both show are about a guy traveling through time. Traveling back in time actually, as our new hero Dan does not seem to ever go to the future either.

But let’s be honest, that isn’t enough to justify a name of “remake”. And after watching, it is clear that - while both shows have many things in common, of course - this is definitely not a remake of the old Quantum Leap.

And that’s a good thing. Now, this does not mean it is a good show ; so, is it?

Heroes: Four Months Later

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | September 26, 2007

(S02E01) There was a log of expectations, questions and anxiety regarding the big return of Heroes on NBC. Not just because the show did well last season, or because NBC made sure the whole world was aware that it was the greatest hit ever in the history of the world – though, granted, they said it in a more pretentious way.

HeroesBut had writers/producers worked on the actual scripts, and planned good episodes for us, or were they all busy promoting the show, that’s the question.

Anyways, I was waiting for it, but not more than that. Because as I already expressed, the first season’s finale was an absolute piece of crap, and offered a very bad new perspective on the whole season, and show.

But let’s start things fresh, and see how this new season look. What’s the verdict after watching the season premiere ?

Of course Nashville is out already!

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | September 26, 2007

But of course they did… Who’s they? it’s Fox, who else! What did they do? Cancel one of their new series, already.

Although to be fair, Nashville is not actually canceled yet, they just took it off the air - after only 2 weeks. The word is that, supposedly, it’s only due to baseball. But once it concludes, the show will return. Of course…

By the way, instead of the show you won’t see no baseball, but repeats of K-Ville. So yeah, if you watched that show you can be sure it’ll be back in October, of course.
